KWTX has learned from a source that one “in-house” candidate is assistant coach Joey McGuire.

Tuesday morning, the source told KWTX McGuire has been named interim head coach and will meet with the team at 7 pm next Sunday.

McGuire just finished his third season on Matt Rhule’s staff and
will meet with the team at 7 pm next Sunday.
Is that this guy?

Best guess is McGuire as HC, Graham Harrell as OC and Snow as DC, but it looks like Snow is following Ruhle to NC.

McGuire is well liked by Texas High School Football Coaches and has been very successful... he's also worked under Ruhle for the last 3 years.

Last time Rhule wasn't on anyone's radar. I never heard his name even mentioned until he came in to interview.... so who the hell knows?

Why would Harrell leave USC for Baylor?

Baylor is past the point where they will be a regular bottom feeder in this conference. It's pretty much solely due to their proximity, but it's unfortunate. Kind of aggravating that a little over a decade ago, Iowa State and Baylor were in similar footing with one another. Starting to feel like the Briles years all over again.

That was all about UT, and they hired Tim Beck anyway. I guess he could but leaving USC for UT is way different than leaving for BU.

At this point he's probably leaving USC after next year when Helton gets fired.
