Zion Griffin might be the most electrifying/athletic HS player in Illinois and he’s still under the radar! The versatile Iowa State commit scored 21 in Hinsdale South 52-36 win at E Leyden. Powerful dunks!
With athletes like Zion, THT, Wigginton, Talley, NWB, Lard, Shayok, and even Young it’ll be disappointing if we’re not one of the highest tempo and better defensive teams in the country.

Just got done going thru this thread and looking at highlights. For all of you young guys that never got to watch Jeff Grayer play, THT is his 30 year younger twin! Similar build and size and exactly the same game.
We can win our guy a poll over an Illini recruit, right?

Yeah, Grayer was more silky smooth. A sleek physical, athletic, tenacious guard. Talen is a brute force. A forward's body with guard skills.
Watching highlights. I’m sure it’s been mentioned, but can Zion play the Clark/Hogue 3 and D role next year?
Hogue played spot minutes as the four, but he mostly was an athletic wing that had a limited, straight-line handle. He was a surprisingly decent outside shooter, great on the boards, and versatile defenders.
Speaking of Hogue, he exemplifies getting talent isn’t just about signing top recruits.

There was a time this summer where I was more excited for ZG, but that's right out the window with all of the THT buzz. ...and I think ZG is going to be a good one too.

ZG is going to have to get sped up quick to the college game, playing on the perimeter. He excels there in AAU, but even there he's behind the experience curve since he's played in the post most of his career. I'm convinced that we're going to have nine or ten guys capable of contributing by the mid-way point next year and that Prohm will get to pick guys 7 and 8 based on matchups. It's going to be a wild change from what we're used to, and I'm all for it.

I agree with your overall assessment, though I think Zion is going to be a small ball 4, which will allow him to play both inside and out. The great thing will be that we won't have to rely on him for anything more than playing a role as a freshman.
