RECRUITING: Darius McNeill status

You all need to ******* relax. He committed to ISU when he was needed. Since then, we've added Wigginton and Shayok and tried really hard to add a grad transfer SG. It's very possible that the role we showed him during his recruitment started to look weak, while he was very much needed at Cal. It's gotta be hard to break a commitment, but he very well may have just saved himself two years on the sidelines by asking for his release.

Is Shayok eligible this coming season?

It's gotta be hard to break a commitment

I can count half dozen + athletes breaking commitments to ISU in the past three months ( and I'm not a recruiting guru at all)

Darius McNeil
Keyshaen fezell

Caleb Chandler
Kam white
Quarn hafiz (who's decommitment ended up costing him a D1 scholy)
Devin lamp
Kahlil Rogers
Tyler catalina

The only one of those that still stings is McNeill. He was on the cusp of arriving in Ames, left Prohm no time to prepare alternatives, and there was clearly tampering.

None of the others had signed. Once you put ink to paper, you better be sure, but I can still understand if a kid wants to walk back a verbal. If he walked back during the verbal period, then that still gives the staff time to find a workaround for the issue. That is still "legitimately" losing to Miss State, Ole Miss, or Louisville at that time, in my book.

Rogers is still up in the air.

Catalina bailed, yes, but he was terrible at UGA, so things "worked out" there. The Georgia football sub-Reddit making fun of him all year was worth the decommitment. :)

So he's scared of competition? If so, do.not.want. He's seems fragile and soft to me.

I don't believe this is true though. I think it's obvious to everyone that his AAU coach, or whoever it was, got hired at Cal recently, and so he's just following him there. Which, IMO, also speaks to his fragility and being soft. He needs someone he knows to take care of him at whatever school he goes to, and now he'll have that. He was protected by his mom up until this point in his life, and now he'll be taken care of and protected by his AAU coach while at Cal.

I'm really beginning to think it's a blessing that this all happened. My guess is he wouldn't have lasted long at ISU anyway if he's this insecure. And he certainly wouldn't have been a great player IMO with this kind of personality.

Good grief people. Chill. Prohm has pieces in place to build a decent team. Wiggington and Lewis are studs.

Does anyone miss Greg McDermott?

Love all the "why is this being talked about?"
It's the off-season, his mom had to step in, and we all knew what was going to happen.
Who the **** cares if it's being talked about, don't open up he thread then.

DM looking pretty good against Wichita St.
