RECRUITING: Cyclones land Washington State transfer

I dont know much about this kid but those numbers against Pac-12 competition would probably double in a weaker conference like the Big 10 or Big 12.

Prohms issue was he got mid-major guys like Holden, Beverley, Brase, and thought they were Big 12 starters. TJ is adding a Power 6 player from the best conference as depth.

I sure hope this is a joke/sarcasm.

Not sure I can agree that he would double his output, or that the big10 and big 12 are weaker than pac 12, or that the pac 12 is the best conference.

One NCAA tournament does not raise (or lower) an entire conference evaluation.

Given the reduced amount of non-conference games this season I'd say the NCAA tournament results weigh more heavily than usual.

Big 12 and Big 10 have been exposed big time. Baylor and Michigan are solid, the rest were extremely overseeded or just average teams like Rutgers and Oklahoma.

I think Oklahoma gave Gonzaga a good run and hung around better than most.

Oregon State winning one more game than Oklahoma or Illinois does not prove the conference is better. Does the fact that 4 PAC12 teams won 2 games (well, Oregon only won 1) mean 4 more PAC12 teams should've gotten in?

I'm not saying Oregon St is better than Illinois but the conference has proven in the tourney they were the best conference this year.

They would have gotten 6 bids if Arizona wasn't on probation and Stanford was on the bubble.

Dubar out and this guy in seems like a pretty good net gain to me. Hopefully in terms of "star power" from the transfer portal this guy is towards the medium/bottom range of who we bring in.

For Stanford to get in Oregon State would not win the conference tournament. In that case OSU doesn't get in.

Arizona got caught in a blatant cheating scandal. Not worthy of consideration.

I don't dispute the PAC12 has had a great run and that the 4 teams, especially Oregon and USC look really good. I just don't agree that this supersedes all other data and makes it the best conference. Not only the best conference, but so much better than this transfer would have doubled his production in the Big 12.

Jaz has a higher rating in Torvik last season than JCL, Mariol Shayok and Rasir Bolton before they came to campus...

Look at his stats post 2/1/2020. He would have been our #3 player on the team after JCL and Bolton

Yeah, not sure why the automatic response is "bench depth". I don't think anything is written in stone going into next year, and this guy sounds like an effort guy with good skills.

Extremely under utilized if you look at advanced metrics. Maybe Hinson and Jaz could be your bigs in a rotation and go 5 out. 5 ball handlers and shooters. Key is Hinson and Jaz will defend and rebound

As it stands now it’s him or Johnson starting at the 4, with both playing significant minutes. Obviously that can change as we pick up more players.. but that’s where we are now.
