RECRUITING: Allen Lazard info

Just a little preview of my story...Here's a quote on why he chose Iowa State so early in the process.

“The reason why I chose Iowa State is because I have known the coaches there for a long time now. I know most of the players and am acquainted there, with my brother being there obviously. I just feel that it is the right fit for me. Why go through the whole process if you already know what is going to happen?”

NICE! Good to hear a kid just say 'It was gonna happen anyway...' with ISU. :v_SPIN:

And with that, he can really concentrate on school, athletics, social life, etc. He can enjoy his teenage years.

Great to hear Allen is already Clone to the bone. If he gets to ISU early, that's a plus, but I'd certainly understand if he wants to complete his great high school career at Urbandale in all sports. It sounds like he's already becoming part of the team thru his brother and it should make it an easier transition for him as a freshman.

Great situation for him. Chance to be a stud for multiple years and his friends/family get to watch him play. Doesn't have to worry about being homesick and ISU football has a lot of hype around it right now. Stadium gets more and more full each year.

Great news! Sounds like he's pretty solid with his commitment to ISU.

Now hopefully we'll have someone that can get him the ball.

Talked to Allen's grandpa this week, and he assured me that Allen would remain committed to the Clones and that an important reason for his staying in state was so that his friends and family could watch him compete without having to spend a lot of time and money traveling.

Might want to save this thread. It will probably need a few bumps by next February.

Just curious what the story is with his brother. I see Anthony listed on the roster as a LB, but have never heard him mentioned other than in context with Alan. Is Anthony a walkon? Any chance to contribute down the road?

Yeah Anthony is a walk-on. Played a limited role in special teams, but should contribute in some fashion in the next three years.

Can't even take half a second to glance up at the thread title and spell the kid's name right, huh? Cool.

Very encouraging quotes! Let the big boys waste their time trying to get him.

Pretty cool he's the #1 wr of that class...hope he's our Michael Crabtree or the like for 4 yrs.

I'd enjoy knowing what AL thinks of ISU's quarterbacks; Richardson and Rohach he must be aware of personally, that is, he's been to ISU practices, surely? (Yeah, I know, the "And don't call me Shirley" line springs to mind. One of moviedom's finest comic moments. Loved that Nielsen.)

And, AL must have the inside scoop on T Hodge and J Lanning. Guess if he didn't have lots of confidence in these guys, he woulda been hesitant to commit so early.

Four young QBs who most of us believe have a world of ability, an OL with lots of experience returning and to be revamped with beneficial reorganization under the direction of who most of us believe is likely a fine OL coach new to the staff, veteran running backs augmented by an outstanding JUCO newcomer, and a young receiver corps that returns an outstanding senior-to-be TE and an exceptional JUCO TE who, like the JUCO RB, arrived on campus last month. (Whew, long sentence.)

Would love to be a fly on the wall when other coaches try to talk him out of coming to ISU.

Oh, for sure. Someone befriend him when he arrives to campus and get the scoop in what other coaches are saying bad about us...probably pointing out our stadium isn't bowled in... ;-)
