If so, glad we could pay for Matt to make one last trip. Hey, maybe it help keeps Diallo from signing with KU?

Competing against each other for future recruits is entirely different than guys you just visited who are set to sign in a few weeks or in the case of Williams already signed. If Abdelmassih is doing the latter I don't see his prediction of working for Fred again coming to fruition.

What a horrible 3 weeks when it really looked like we were about to bust through to the next level. Normally swaping TJ for Matt is an upgrade overall imo, but not this off-season. We really had a decent shot at not only the McD AA game MVP, but the recruit who would have been the missing piece to becoming a legitimate national title contender. Lose Williams too? Tough offseason, already.

Agree with this.... total BS.

What is the deal with 15' shooting guard Tyler Williams out of Texas? According to 247 Iowa St is his only offer but doesn't seem like there is much interest

Updated Rivals150 for 2016:
http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/rankings/rank-3375/0

Kassoum Yakwe: 49
Malik Monk: 7
Tyler Cook: 80
Miles Bridges: 28
Amir Coffey: 47
Maverick Rowan: 43

Those are the guys I can think of that we're actively recruiting but the upcoming evaluation period will bring even more names up for our 2016 prospects.

Rowan is trying to reclassify for 2015.

The Ames Tribune's Cyclone Slant podcast from today has some pretty good input from Travis Hines.

From what he gathers, ISU is pretty much out on Diallo so their recruiting strategy of swinging for the fences with top ten rated guys will probably end going into 2016 unless they make sense geographically or there is a relationship there.

He specifically mentioned the Malik Monk recruitment will die out this summer mostly because there is no geographic or relationship advantage for ISU so it will end.

In his opinion (which is an informed one). It does make sense to focus on the Georges and Monte's of the world (50-100) as a team full of that type of kid can easily keep us competing at the top levels of college basketball.

Monk is my #1 want

In Hines's podcast, he said they are shifting their recruiting strategy and used him as an example of someone they won't try to recruit going forward.

Top 10 guy with no natural ties to ISU. Basically a waste of time.

I didn't think Hines ment ISU will "only" target 50-100 type players rather players that make sense regionaly and have strong AAU contacts with Fred's assistants . If a top 10 player is in Minnesota, Kansas City, Wisconsin, Brewster HS (OTZ) and Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois (Mann) I expect the staff to still recruit them.
For example, ISU is still focused on Bridges who is top 30 and Coffee who is top 50 and could move up if healthy.

Yeah, that was my assessment of his comments as well. Just going off on my own tangent.
