He's a great get. He is a guy who will probably put in 3 years.too unlike a top 20 kid, by far the best recruit Iowa has signed in a generation imo. Makes their class a top 15.

That thread is gold. They just went 4 years without a top 150 recruit (which is unheard of for a P5 program) and we'll still have a better class this year with a brand new coach. Why would you want that thread closed?
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I think the kids got some size and is talented, but I've also seen the job Fran does in "developing" his top talent he brings in.
Not a single person was against him coming back. I was very much against him being the HC, and said I would rather have Prohm and keep Otz as an assistant, which people like you were against because you wanted Otz as the HC.

well it projected as #15 a couple days ago but a few other teams moved up farther. It won't hold top 25 I agree. But they are the #20 team right now and we will still be behind them even with Long fwiw.
Personally I'd take a class of Malou, Jackson, Young & Long over one of Cook, Kriener, Pemsl & Bohannon.
It's better than what they've been doing in recent years, but I'd take our class over theirs any day.
And that doesn't even count the 1-2 transfers that we'll likely add in the spring.
Who since Woodbury? I am assuming he is better than Woodbury/Gesssel. And they had a long dryspell before that. 17 class and beyond is a long way off so I won't speculate on those yet.
They're top 25 now because they have 4 recruits, they'll slide as other teams add players. Their average recruit is an 88, ours is 90. We'll end up ahead and they'll finish in the 30-40 range
They have #20 we have #28. Even with Long we won't surpass them per class calculator. TCook has a great composite rating. Sure with transfers we may end up having a better class but it won't be ranked higher unless our guys all blow up.
Cuz it's a 12k post thread interacting with a really stupid troll. . . My thought would be close then reopen after their first pathetic non conference loss. Which could very well be this year looking at the six freshmen they are trying to break in.
That isn't how it works (our average will be higher but our rank still less) and I say explicitly they will not finish top 25 (for the reason you mention) so not sure what your point is. We will also be in the around 35-40 range unless we add some unknown stud.
I did the 247class projection today and it put them in at around 19 or 20. Keep in mind there are still a lot of names on the board, they have no more scholarships and we have three.
Me too, but theirs will be ranked higher. But outside of our Monte and Thomas class that is normal and look how that's worked out for them.
We have 3 scholarships left to fill so a lot can happen. Composite rankings are weird with JUCOs. 247 has Malou a 93 and Cook a 92 but Malou doesn't get a composite bump. I still think we'll have a top 25 class on Rivals or 247 when it's all said and done
