It looks to me like in the end, if/when the ACC implodes you may have a similar situation there.
I could see Cal and Stan going back to the Pac. Then you will have a few teams, (Syr, BC, SMU, Wake, etc) left in the ACC work to patch together some form of a ACC, adding teams like Memphis, Tulane, Uconn, etc. Depending on who else the PAC adds.
We then will have a weird system where we will have a clear P3, with 2 conferences somewhere between the G5 and P3.
My guess these 2 leagues will be looking at something like $10m+/- each for a media deal, compared to $3m at the high end G5.
A question is if Stan and Cal will lower themselves to be with the new PAC schools academics. But they may not have much of a choice. They can stay with the ACC at that point but with a much lower payout, the travel costs may not be worth it at that level.
