I heard a bunch of talking heads today saying how bad it is now that UCLA swimming has to travel to Rutgers and how hard that trip will be. I thought about it and I’m like, wait, Nebraska and Iowa non revenue sport teams have been traveling to Rutgers and vise versa for like 13 years. They’ve made it work. I bet you anything the trip from LA to NY is easier than the trip from NE/IA to NY. Just drunk thoughts

This truly is incredible considering the history of the Big 12. Born and raised a Cyclone, I loved everything about Cyclone Football and by extension College Football. Three times in 13 years it looked like ISU was going to be on the outside looking in to meaningful college football. I would have always loved ISU but my love for college football would have been hallow going forward if ISU was not in a conference at the highest level of the sport. Thank you Jamie Pollard, Brett Yormark, and the rest of the “hateful 8” leaders for everything they have done to stay firm in solidarity and make decisions as a whole rather than individuals.

I feel for Oregon State and Washington State fans, they are the losers in this whole thing. Maybe one day the Sport can do what’s right and hire a commissioner, go back to regional conferences, negotiate TV as a whole and leverage ALL of college football with the media partners, not just those in the Power 4.

Sounds like a good plan, but probably will never happen. You gotta love these universities - they want environments where everything is fair, no feelings can be hurt, and there should be no advantages for certain people. That applies to how we run these universities except for athletics. This is where we only support unbridaled capitalism that will insure survival of the fittest and screw the weakest.

ASU is my second college team. A few acquaintances went there, and by extension as a Cardinals fan, as they used to play at Sun Devil stadium, and Jake Plummer is one of my Top 3 favorite QBs of all-time.

I am glad they are in the conference as a fan, but bummed I have to cheer against them when playing Iowa State, or if another game they playing may hurt ISU in the standings.

I lived in the same apartment complex as Jake and two members of a band the the Refreshments . They were kind of big around the Tempe area and had one pretty semi solid hit nationally. Good band and nice guys. We lived at the corner of broadway and Dobson in Mesa . Which was across the street from Tempe

I am an ASU alumni. To be honest we have no rich traditions other than slaying the party scene. Nobody goes to the basketball games. When we pay Arizona half the crowd is Wildcat fans. Football is semi ok on attendance. Baseball u to be solid but for some reason that has not been as dominant. I’m glad my old school is in the big 12 but they are a nothing sports university

ASU football was really good in the 1970s in the Western Athletic Conference under Head Coach Frank Kush, prior to joining the PAC in 1978:

I take my kid to Tempe a week from today. They start offseason workouts a week from Monday. This is a huge load of our shoulders that has been sitting there for a year.

It's probably already been mentioned, but the stadium views we're inheriting are pretty top notch. Rice Eccles, LaVell Edward's, Folsom, Sun Devil Stadium.. never been to Tucson, but have heard decent things.
