PAC isn’t going to get a big TV deal worth a **** or even GOR to sign when they’re not on the same page. No network wants that unless it’s cheap, but then no GOR so essentially the PAC is gonna fold. OSU, WSU unfortunately go to MWC, unless we give them a lifeline which I doubt.

Not exactly sure.
10 teams in the PAC estimated at 30MM average. Rumor of 245MM offer which would be less. How does the big ten hold their 75MM TV rights they say by taking 4 more teams. That means the other 6 have a negative 55 MM value combined.

They probably move to a 10 game conference schedule. That adds an addition 10 games of programing every year.

I HAD been in favor of Oregon to the Big10, as it would obviously destabilize the PAC 12 and make the big 12 clear # 3. However, I've changed my stance on this.

We need to drag out the current state of college football as along as possible, because once it goes to the next model (NFL like), we won't be a part of it. Once all the powers join either the big 10 or SEC, it is over.

Meh, I disagree will the next level down (where ISU appears to be headed) have the money of the big 2 no but it'll still be good FB get a invite to the playoffs etc...

If it all gets to carried away I'll just quite following any of it other than ISU. Right know I'm posting in this thread but really don't care who the B12 adds next nor who goes to the B1G or the SEC it's all above my paygrade.

I’d be curious to have a discussion on the pros/cons of Arizona vs Arizona State.

I don’t know much about them, other than the fact that ASU is one of the largest universities in the country, and is closer to the Phoenix market.

Zona seems to be more open to the Big 12 and a good cultural fit. While football drives the bus on expansion, the prospect of adding another elite basketball school is exciting as a fan.

Anybody have thoughts on this, and why we all seem to value Arizona over ASU? Genuinely curious.

ASU seems to have hotter FB fan picks on the internet. Arizona is the better BB school.

They actually fit MWC geographic footprint way better than ISU would've fit Mac, AAC or MWC footprint.

The new MWC will have the most close rivals in history of MWC/WAC. If you're a Boise State fan you suddenly have 4-5 drivable games.

On top of that geographic fit the actual football and basketball quality of the Pac and MWC hasn't been drastically differnt. I don't feel like WSU/OreSt joining MWC is at all apples to apples with ISU/KSU joining AAC/MAC in terms of competitiveness or MWC in terms of geography.

Feel bad for them, but in a lot of ways it's a fit. They'll probably bring down basketball quality and increase football quality.

Does anybody think Pac minus UCLA is really that much better in bb than MWC? Is Pac minus USC or minus USC/Oregon really better in football?

On the flip side, we saw that Texas, OU, A&M, Nebraska, CU and Missouri leaving big 12 still left Big 12 as the far and away #1 basketball conference and probably 3rd or 4th best fb conference.

I've been thinking this way more and more.

Utah:
- About 3 million people
- Fastest growing state however...
- Also has impending ecological disaster that could slow growth (toxic metals in air)
- Big 12 already has largest fanbase BYU, BYU's fanbase also brings a bit of a national following
- Utah's AD, academic profile and football program are very good
- I'd lean toward yes on Utah, but I can easily see how some number cruncher might say no.

Colorado:
- In the current climate there's no down side to bringing them back in. If Big Ten or SEC some calling for some outlandish reason, they can leave again if they want but I doubt it happens.

Arizona:
- About 7 million people, larger than Utah market
- Arizona is elite basketball adding to the already clear #1 by a mile basketball conference
- Not sure why Arizona seems the #1 choice over ASU
- I'd lean toward adding both but again wouldn't be surprised at all if a number cruncher suggests Big 12 only adds one of them
- There is an outside chance SEC wants in Arizona someday, so if you take both you likely always have one

SDSU:
- Not sure I buy this anymore. It made sense when goal was to crumble Pac 12.
- I don't think they ACTUALLY bring any part of a CA market. I'm not sure UCLA/Cal/Stanford even do.
- For whatever reason a lot of people put them as the #1 group of five free agent though.
- I'd say as many as 6 ACC highly likely refugees someday might make a more logical fit, let SDSU slowly strengthen the MWC instead of joining Big 12.

With ACC almost guaranteed to splinter I don't know why anybody would talk about anyone outside those five, I really don't even get SDSU talk. Already adding BYU was no reach at all, they more than deserve to be in a major conference. UCF is worth gamble on upside. Time will tell on Cincy/Houston. Had the Big 12 not have added BYU and Houston I think Pac would've already reached out to both because they are in survival mode and both bring more than SDSU.

IMO Stanford & Cal are wildcards- TV Networks might value them more than CU or UA. Could be that Pac12 realignment forces Cal's administration to evaluate whether they want to be P3-5 or go the route of Harvard, Yale, Chicago, etc.

I agree it may be Big Ten or no major football for Cal/Stanford. Cal Tech doesn't have sports either for a more local comp.

The WCC has very good academic profile, probably similar to Pac on average, and could work for them if they want to keep high level athletics without football vs joining a conference with UNLV and Wyoming.
