I am not sure what "history" you are referring to here because it sure as hell hasn't been the reality over the past 25 years, especially at the P4 level. Also, what makes you think colleges would spend this new found revenue on Olympic sports? History has shown over the last 25 years that new TV revenue is spent on the sports that TV viewers watch.
Maybe you didn't understood what I posted. But it is 100% accurate to say FB & MBB have been given the vast majority of increasing media rights money (and other incremental $) over the last 25 years.I am not sure what "history" you are referring to here because it sure as hell hasn't been the reality over the past 25 years, especially at the P4 level.
Honestly, in the context of college sports, no one does.Cody Campbell doesn't give a **** about Olympic sports.
You have obviously not kept up on facility upgrades for non rev and Olympic sports across P4 and G5 over the last 25 years. ISU is an example of that.Maybe you didn't understood what I posted. Olympic sports receive the bare minimum to keep those teams competitive. Sure there are some exceptions at blue blood programs in sports like wrestling, baseball, softball, etc. But in large part that money comes from sport-specific donors and ticket sales.
IMO it's a false assumption that if media rights fees double or triple that Olympic sports will benefit much. It will just continue the FB & MBB arms race.
Of course there has been some spending, but not close to the rate as FB or MBB. Like I said, minimum $ to stay competitive or not get in Title IX hot water. You have obviously not kept up on facility upgrades for non rev and Olympic sports across P4 and G5 over the last 25 years. ISU is an example of that.
And it’s foolish on your end to claim non rev and Olympic sports will not benefit much with doubling/tripling of FBS media rights. Not only will existing sports be saved, incremental investment in them will continue to occur as well as has been done over the last 25 years.
Mindless conjecture with no basis in fact. The reason Cody Campbell is leading this charge is because TT has zero chance of ever getting into the Big 10 or SEC.
If odds of being added to a Big 10/SEC P2 were assigned to Big12 schools, TT would be outside the top 10 among Big 12 schools. The SEC already has the top 3 Texas brands in UT, A&M and OU.
Campbell understands TT will just continue to lose ground to the Longhorns & Aggies.
Or he throws enough money at it that the SEC takes Tech, at a reduced price in an SMU situation, rather than paying lobbyists and lawyers. The reason Cody Campbell is leading this charge is because TT has zero chance of ever getting into the Big 10 or SEC.

So Brett Yormark is naive to Campbell’s motives? Yormark gave Campbell unfettered access to the media at B12 FB Media Days to speak to his initiatives.Or he throws enough money at it that the SEC takes Tech, at a reduced price in an SMU situation, rather than paying lobbyists and lawyers.
You're naive if you think his goal is anything other than Tech's best interest.
Yeah because again, to his point, they aren’t cutting the P2 checks, anyone that isn’t should want some kind of changeSo Brett Yormark is naive to Campbell’s motives? Yormark gave Campbell unfettered access to the media at B12 FB Media Days to speak to his initiatives.
Same deal with JP who has proclaimed the need for media rights pooling and how billions of dollars are being left on the table with the current BS setup dictated by ESPN and Fox.
0 chance Texa$ would allow that.If Aggie decided to move to the Big 10, I wouldn't be shocked if the SEC picked up Texas Tech.
Like A&M didnt allow Texas to join?0 chance Texa$ would allow that.
No so sure about that. Someone said they weren't top 10 in the Big12 to get to P2, and I don't think that's right either. They have money, passionate fans, and some history. Not saying it is likely, but if the ACC breaks up, and the Top 6 teams get pulled out to P2, destroying the ACC... is it impossible to think they might pull out a couple of Big12 teams (maybe TT, ASU, BYU, or ??) in order to destroy the Big12 as well? Not saying likely, but possible.Texas Tech is not getting into the SEC no matter how good they do on the field.
They don't have enough historical cache or a big enough fanbase to draw eyeballs when they're bad.
Any school in the current Big 12 that's putting their eggs in the "maybe we'll get into the Big 10 or SEC" basket is being incredibly foolish. Those leagues have had ample opportunity to add every school here. Every Big 12 school should be focused on the Big 12 getting to stay involved in the highest level of the sport. That is the opportunity. We are all here because the Big 10 and SEC don't want us.
What happens when the top ACC brands (and it won't be 6 of them) go to the SEC or Big 10 is that the Big 12 and ACC need to merge into a third conglomerate that has enough eyeballs to demand inclusion. No so sure about that. Is it impossible to believe that ESECPN might try to give Tech 30 pieces of silver with an SEC invite to get Campbell to shut up? Especially if the timing of an ACC breakdown aligns with it?
I do agree nobody in the Big12 should be thinking "let's get to the P2" as there is not much in their power they can actually do to effect that change. They just have to hope something else crazy happens and they hit the lotto.
Of course he did. That's the setup that Yormark and everybody not in the P2 wants. So Brett Yormark is naive to Campbell’s motives? Yormark gave Campbell unfettered access to the media at B12 FB Media Days to speak to his initiatives.

I agree with you. I wonder if there’s a move they make to “shut them up”? They offer them membership to cut out all this disruptive SBA stuff, that type of thing.Texas Tech is not getting into the SEC no matter how good they do on the field.

So you're saying Yormark is naive to Campbell's true motives like I supposedly am (according to you)?Of course he did. That's the setup that Yormark and everybody not in the P2 wants.
