Unless its an announcement by a school directly, its all entertainment.

I'm probably wrong on a lot of things I'm taking guesses on. I do want to be accurate so please feel free to provide any links or evidence that points out I'm incorrect. This is what I asked Speedy to do. His response of "Please provide me a link so I can turn around and give it back to you" was definitely a bold strategy on his part. :D
An announcement from a school means something? How many of these schools have said they are totally locked in and then do something completely different.

You did the same thing when I provided several links to you. You refused to even read them because of who wrote them. Not even looking at the details and the information and links provided to the information in those stories. For instance the athletic article had multiple links to multiple contracts. The one you didnt read because it was from Frank the Tank, you know the guy that wrote the sports history encyclopedia, but didnt see the direct quotes and direct links in the story that were from actual contracts.

I never said the opinions in those links were right, I said the details and quotes about the contracts were right. But you know more than anyone else. Tell people to provide links and prove it, but refuse to do the same, to give weight to anything you are saying. You are guessing....out your ass...some of us at least are making educated guesses by using data and resources on contracts etc.

You continue to guess at things with nothing to back up your guesses, as you cant find a single contract written how you believe. Yet I provided links and details to many contracts written exactly how I and others were saying. You just didnt want to listen because it would prove you wrong. You have the idea that the SEC contract is for some reason written completely different than every other conference.

I gave you plenty of links that back what I and others said, you just refused saying my links werent good enough and for some reason you cant post any that prove you are right and I am wrong. Its nice that you think its ok for you to ask for links to back up other people, but you wont and act like its ok because you asked for a link first.

I've seen a couple threads on reddit about Pac-12 Big-12 realignment and the consensus among the pac-12 people is that Big 12 folks actively rooting for the demise of the pac-12 (eh not actively, but passively maybe lol) and Iowa state fans are among the loudest pushing for the demise of the pac-12.

It's hilarious how the Big-12 went from poverty conference two years ago to big bad bully eating up other conferences...

I'm actively rooting for it. **** em

Some people have difficulty understanding that contracts typically recycle very similar language time and again because it's understood by lawyers on all sides and, more importantly, understood how courts have interpreted that language in other cases.

Each conference's media deals, bylaws and GORs are probably 98%+ similar in terms of what types of clauses and rules they have in place. Some variations on specifics, sure, but for the most part, it's the same. That's why while we don't have the ACC's GOR or bylaws publicly available, for example, we can look at similar agreements for other conferences and assume the ACC wouldn't be a radical outlier.

It seems unimaginable the ACC would put together a GOR without amending their bylaws to protect it, and there are examples of how other conferences have done just that. The entire purpose of the GOR was to be difficult if not impossible to break and very, very expensive to buy out.

I pretty much have seen all Arizona and Arizona State fans wanting to move to the Big 12. Even the guys that cover those schools all want to move. I really think we should just add those 2 for now as they are the most valuable. Don’t mind Colorado coming back if that happens too.

Arizona State's President is openly anti Big 12.

Arizona's President isn't saying ****.

Yes, a University putting out a press release saying they are switching conferences means something. Anything other than that is entertainment.

You did the same thing when I provided several links to you. You refused to even read them because of who wrote them. Not even looking at the details and the information and links provided to the information in those stories. For instance the athletic article had multiple links to multiple contracts. The link I asked you for was to the contract that both ESPN and the SEC signed for their new TV deal. You then threw all sorts of other garbage links at me which didn't have the requested info. Frank the Tank is a glorified content creator with a large reach. So is Mhever, Greg LaFlure and Chip Brown for that matter. Their opinions all carry the same weight.

I never said the opinions in those links were right, I said the details and quotes about the contracts were right. But you know more than anyone else. Tell people to provide links and prove it, but refuse to do the same, to give weight to anything you are saying.

Yes, those details seemed genuine. Except they weren't from the SEC contract, the link that was asked to be provided. Let me make this easier so that you can comprehend it: I asked you for a can of Pepsi, and you handed be a can of Coke and told me its Pepsi. You then turned around and asked me to provide you a can of Pepsi in order to give it right back to me. Bold strategy.
You are guessing....out your ass...some of us at least are making educated guesses by using data and resources on contracts etc.
"Always accuse your enemy of that which you're guilty of yourself."
You continue to guess at things with nothing to back up your guesses, as you cant find a single contract written how you believe.
So I'm a poster on an internet message board. Better alert CNN with this breaking news. :D

The SEC contract is the same as other conferences? Cool. Please post a link to this contract and the other four Power 5 contracts so we can verify.

I said YOU were wrong and that YOU needed a link to support your take, not the other way around. Nice try on the spin though. :)

"Why would you move for a couple million dollars a year more?”

For visibility and relevance. Also to have your University in a safe spot when the Big 10 comes calling for Oregon and Washington.

Because a million here, a million there, pretty soon it is real money.

I sadly believe Wilner will be correct here. We have a deal with ESPN but we never saw where our games are going to be shown at. ESPN, ESPN2 may all be SEC/ACC/Pac 12 after Dark. Big 12 gets ESPNU and ESPN+ for their games.

Pardon my tinfoil hat, but is there an element of this where school leadership has to make public statements like this in case there’s a legal battle later when they leave? Alternatively they don’t leave and they get the benefit of being onboard when things looked murky.

It’s the old, “Well we supported it publicly and really wanted to stay, but the offer wasn’t enough so we had to leave for the good of our financial future.” IANAL, but do these statements hold up as a good faith effort to try to stick to the contract? Tell me if I’m overthinking.

The Pac-12 staying together at a reduced rate isn't even a bad thing. The Big-12 schools just continue to pull further and further ahead financially. Eventually Oregon and Washington will jump ship, and at that point the rest don't have any leverage left at all in terms of what the Big-12 is willing to offer.
