These pictures were taken a couple months ago around Ames. The flowers and the butterfly are from Reiman Gardens, the first bridge is where 150th St. (obviously) crosses the Skunk River north of Ames, and the second bridge is near Soper's Mill north of Ames. Also, here's your riddle for the day: one of these pictures was actually taken in Colorado. Can you guess which one it is?

Correct! However it is not an Orchid; it's a Colorado Blue Columbine, which is the state flower of Colorado!
Bumping thread, partly as self-reminder. I dig this topic. I'm impressed by people who excel at photography.

I would agree. There's things I would definitely still like to see. It's a landscape photographers dream to take photos in that country!
This thread was brought up in the RTT so I figured I would bump it with one of my favorite photos I have ever taken. I took it chasing the sunset on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend somewhere between Rockwell City and Lake City. I would like to eventually track down the owner of the corn crib and send the photo to them but for the life of me I can't remember where exactly I took it. I suppose I'll just have to spend some time on google maps and see if I can find it again.

It's not native to Iowa, but I have them in my garden, including the blue one. I love columbines - low maintenance perennials with a variety of shapes & colors, and they tolerate shade very well.

Oh my gosh, the dress and venue were amazing. I lucked out. It was up in Decorah, which is just lovely.
This one is bittersweet. This was taken out our back window at dawn on Father’s Day. A little bit later I discovered that overnight a snake had gotten in the the bluebird house and eaten his young nestlings.
Decided to make the best of all the rain recently and get out my camera. Here are the results:
