I know this doesn't have anything to do with your question but I'm glad your son decided to join the band! I started playing trumpet in 5th grade and haven't put it down since. I know being in band isn't necessarily the "cool" thing to do in high school but it's one of those things that sticks with you forever. I play in community bands with 80 year olds that can still play. I dont, however, play pick-up basketball or football with 80 year olds. I went to a small school so I could do as many extracurriculars as I wanted but if I had to go back and choose just one it would be band every time.

Band was a big part of my and hubby’s lives growing up and we met in Band at ISU. I haven’t played much since college, but hubby still participates in alumni pep band about once a year. The oldest found her “people” in band in HS, that is the group she identifies with the most. She is also a two sport athlete, but she will choose band over those anyday. ;) Getting up for early morning volleyball? Not a fan. Getting up for jazz band before school three times a week? Happy to! She has also taught herself guitar and ukulele. It is Homecoming this week and Wednesday was -er/-or day (dress like a person/occupation that ends in -er/-or). She went as a pep band/marching band member wearing vintage 90’s ISU band gear.

On Wisconsin
that's kinda what I implied to DH last week when he didn't finagle his way out but his company pays regular pay for it and he was able to be home a bit earlier so in his case.........

though his case was a complete **** show with an OWI guy representing himself. Sounded like they kept getting lots of breaks for the judge to yell at the guy for testifying.
I wish I could have been on that jury. I really want to be on one, and being on a jury in that type of case would be so entertaining

DH took like TWO HOURS to tell me every little detail. It was a bit much. But I guess the guy had kept appealing up to county court. Part of his defense was that he was on a DUI jury once where they all learned what tests are done to determine inebriation. So after that, he practiced them just because. Then when he got this OWI - years later - he was so intent on walking the straight line just like he practiced at home that he forget about turning around to come back.

I'm like "you might be an alcoholic if..."

also, he believed the cops were out to arrest he and his friends and kept trying to bring up a conspiracy about it. Threw around how he's a financial planner and PEOPLE PAY HIM to make good decisions. DH said two of his witnesses were people at the card party he had been at before he left and the one was definitely not pleased to be there.

Aside from the wild news day, busy day here.
The Deans at DMACC observe a class of each adjunct to make sure things are on track. Today was my (scheduled) day.

It went like I thought. Students were engaged, on point, and on fire. The Dean was having a good time and participated later on. The only regret I'll have: 30 minutes before the Dean arrived, a student started our pre-class socializing by thanking me for my enthusiasm, and said that I'm the most excited teacher she has, and it's not even close. I wish the Dean had heard that, but all right.

Now maybe they'll get around to talking to me about spring?

I think it might be time to lose some weight.

Long story short, the conference had their celebration event at Universal Studios. Rented it out just for us, all food and beer free etc etc.

Anyway, I was put into the "fat seat" on one of the roller coasters because they couldn't close the regular one all the way. Somewhat embarrassed about it. But I think it's a sign.

At least it was the front row :D

Don't tell Rev but I'm pretty sure she was hitting on you. At least that's what I've learned from watching Friends.

Did not know they had those.

We were at adventure land one year and was sitting near the tower of power/space shot or whatever its name is. There was one very large guy that they were trying to get seated. One guy was trying to push down the shoulder loop and hook the seat belt. He couldn't get it done so they got a second guy who was raring back and slamming into the shoulder loop to try to hook it. I figured if they are doing this, no way it locks and the guy probably flies out when they hit the top. I'm starting to get nervous that I may see a guy die. They couldn't get it hooked so they couldn't let him ride.

The guy leaves and crosses where we are sitting. Is complaining that he would have been fine and don't know why they didn't let him go.

I would like to do that but I'm taking my son and a friend to a Twins game. @BoxsterCy - Buy Pants a beer for me Actually, if you're buying, make it a scotch, and not one of those cheap ones.

I feel guilty since I'm not that far away, I should have ventured at some time and bought him a drink. @BoxsterCy buy Pants a drink for me, maybe a shot of Yukon Jack or something, and since you are helping out, why don't you get something nice for yourself while you're at it.

Years ago I was at CA World in Orlando. On Wednesday they closed down the Magic Kingdom just for us. There's nothing real exciting there. I rode Space Mountain a bunch.

I still have a pair of Zubaz pants that I wear around the house in the winter. The vixen hates them. I'm convinced they will get "lost" one day.
