Angie's bad parenting thread and JC's post made me remember something from my oldest childs youth. They do this kids rodeo out at the county fair and when he was young, they had mutton busting at the end. Basically you slap a bike helmet on your kid, thrown him on a sheep, tell him to grab the rope that it loosely hanging around the sheep, tell them to squeeze tight with their legs right before they give the sheep a slap and turn it loose. These are 4-7 year old kids.
He seemed to like it even though he took some nasty spills since he seemed to stay on longer than others. About a year ago, it came up about mutton busting and I mentioned how he liked it. He then informed he was terrified of it and was always scared when he did it. He said that I got him convinced he liked it during sign ups every year when he truly didn't. I ended up apologizing for bad parenting 12 years later.
