Zipper merges are just another thing for engineers to say it works perfectly when the reality is there are too many variables and egos involved for it to work properly.

Yeah, because we have people like this:
I’m that guy where, when a lane is closing and people are supposed to zipper merge, if people keep trying to zoom past and up in the other lane, I’ll just pull into it and continue at the same speed I was going before so people can’t cut. Not once have I ever had the car that was originally behind me in the lane people are supposed to merge in to not let me back in to the merge lane once the closing lane officially closed. I have had one car drive into a ditch to still go around me once, though.

Well that and the overly nice people that will come to a complete stop and let people in that immediately sends the flow down the shitter. So then more people are inclined to go flying up the left lane and the avalanche picks up speed.

Or the 500 people that fly infront of the loaded semi when things get started back up forcing the trucker to slam on the brakes again and cause a mess behind him.

I agree with this.

Another example which is not a zipper merge. When crossing the George Washington Bridge into New York you have to pay the toll. The lower level of the bridge is for toll plates only. If you pay cash you must be on the upper level. There are a couple of toll plate lanes on the left and people paying cash drive up the toll plate lanes and then want to merge in to pay cash bypassing everyone else. It causes a major backup because people let them in for some stupid reason. It's a good thing I don't deal with that daily or I would probably go a road raging.

Of course driving daily in New York traffic could send anyone into road raging. If you aren't aggressive you're screwed.

Peaks #4 and #5 in the books (Mt. Belford and Mt. Oxford). 11 miles round trip and 5,800 feet of elevation gain. The first picture is from the first peak and the second picture is from the second peak looking back at the first peak. I'm pretty sore right now but it was totally worth it.

(P.S. I fully acknowledge the risk of demon children or undead BCClones finding me as a result of the first picture but it's a risk I'm willing to take.)

In laws leave today. Things will be less antsy and get slightly back to normal. FB practice starts Wednesday and volleyball next Monday. Although daughter said she’s not going out, really would prefer she does. Don’t know what else she would do if she didn’t.

Rarely works as envisioned. It's not like everyone is on the same page and we rehearse this like we are the Blue Angels of driving in formation.

MrsWx parents have bought a condo on the SW side somewhere contingent upon them getting their house on the market by this Friday. So we had a work day Saturday to clean it out and fix it up because they are not clean people and the house has been long neglected (even before they owned it). The first task I took was power washing the deck. Their power washer was broke and wouldn't work so MrsWx went and borrowed her grandparents. It worked but the nozzle wouldn't go very wide so it was taking longer than expected. This lead to many comments (relayed by MrsWx) of "It's going to take all day if he doesn't make the nozzle wider" and eventually my MIL coming out to try and get it to work right while I smiled before she eventually gave up. Then her dad (the power washer was my FILs parents) says "That is going to take all day lets go get mine". At that point I am just going to be compliant and go along with it. So we waste close to a half hour going to get it, coming back and setting up. Small issue...his was about 500 psi more which apparently was more than their house could handle and it just kept tripping the breaker when powered on. This lead to my MIL telling us to find something else to do.

MrsWx had arrived late due to another commitment and by the time she got there the kids were restless so she took them home. My SIL apparently is always sick and she sat on the couch the whole day. My BIL apparently is also sick with something that Drs cant figure out and he isn't sleeping much so he didn't show up until 2 and was still sitting in his car on his phone at 2:30 when I left. MrsWx is going back today and tomorrow to help them because apparently she is the only responsible child they have.

This is the only week all summer the oldest does not have something sports/school related. She will do school volleyball and club softball this fall. She was going to try out for All State band, but I was really afraid all that would send her over the edge. She decided on her own not to do All State.

Their JV volleyball team went to a Cyclone team camp last week. The second day they play a tournament format. The Gold bracket had varsity teams from out of state with future Cyclone players, they played their day at Hilton. We were in the lowest bracket and played at Lied (can’t slide on those courts). They did win their bracket so she has a nice ISU volleyball medal to add to her collection. :)

That was her first tryout for a club. After it happened Mrs. Velo asked if they had any trainers or medical there. Nope. Did they have any supplies there - like an ice pack? Nope. When she went to the next try out for a different club and tried to give it a go with a brace on they saw her struggle and they pulled her aside and had the orthopedist they had there take a look at her. The tryout directer talked to her and said they were going to ask her to go home - they hoped it wouldn't affect her decision on whether to accept an offer from them but her well being was too important.

You can guess how these two clubs rank on Velo and Mrs. Velo's list. Daughter is smart enough to recognize it too.

First things first.

Congrats @cowgirl836! Great news!

Anything else exciting happen while I was gone?

Other then the big CG news, not much happened. Wxman was suffering withdraw symptoms from missing Oshkosh this week. 2015 was in London and went all gambling bug and won money playing poker all the while worrying about his patio farm. The axiom "love isn't real" is still real. Boxster augered in while bike riding but did not die. Some stuff about dalmatian puppy dogs. There were some GTO appearances. KC busy roadtrippin' so not many cat posts. So work related ******** but it was generally quiet enough to make me think people were actually working at work and not sufferin' CF.
