I would donate, but I can't ever since college. I was doing the donate plasma for a few extra bucks on the side and they came back with a false positive for hepatitis, been tested multiple times since but that one false positive put me on a no donor list.
Same here. I had non-infectious hepatitis associated with mononucleosis when I was 17. I used to do apheresis donations at Mary Greeley's blood bank on a monthly basis, but they started using a different screening test for hepatitis and it doesn't clear people like me. It's cost effective for them to use that test, but they lost a person who was willing to sit for a couple of hours with needles in both arms because of it.

Erik, tell them to put up a poll of who to hire. We can do that, easy.

This part will be nerve-wracking, even though I have to imagine that the other dude is accepting the offer.

Lost out on a spot at MidAmerica Nazarene to a guy whose research is about Methodists in MIssouri and Kansas around the Civil War. He may as well have just been writing a history of their school.

So, I'll sigh and wait and plan the hits.

We need other person to get a better offer or back out because of stereotypes about the South.
Clearly you have thought this through better than I have. Or maybe you're just less bloodthirsty?
So - we could bombard the other candidate with news clippings and hurricane/heatwave/bug infestation issues, and...

OH CRAP! Revkah, turn off your computer while we discuss this!!! :D

I spent some time in Manhattan and Long Island back in 2000. Our company was consolidating the datacenters (such a grand term for what were essentially air-conditioned broom closets with computers in them!) of their two NY sites. We were moving everything out of the expensive Times Square location, to the much-cheaper Long Island office.

The day we drove into Manhattan was a gorgeous late fall day, Indian Summer really, with nary a cloud in the sky. Sunlight specks gleaming off the skyscrapers, foam of a gentle breeze upon the waters... it was just beautiful. And then we were in the city, with hordes of people everywhere. Times Square was something else. That place truly is a wonder of the world, even if it's a compete tourist trap. For some reason, I remember looking specifically for the TRL studio. I guess back then, MTV was still mildly relevant? I'm just really happy that I got to see, with my own eyeballs, the WTC towers before they fell.

Only disappointment was I really was hoping to see McDowell's. :D
You were that close to Queens and you didn't visit McDowells?
