Alright, someone help me with logistics here.

We just got a note from our landlord, saying they're spraying for pests this coming Tuesday. No prob, that's the usual, although seems a bit late this season. Here's the kicker. They want everything removed from our kitchen and bathroom cabinets, and NOT set on the countertop so that "they can spray well". (As I'm typing this, I wonder if they mean drawers too) ANYWAY!

I have probably 1.75 set of dishes (don't ask), an overabundance of glasses and mugs, not to mention my pots & pans and some other things that need to be removed. My dining room table is nowhere big enough to fit all of that stuff safely. Plus, there's not a lot of floor space. I ain't packing this stuff away like I"m moving just to unpack it. We have wooden TV trays we could use...and we could also wait until Tuesday to run the dishwasher. That'll help. And I know there's a DH Monday night, followed by an early Tuesday morning for me. (DH = doubleheader, not CG's husband. That would be weird.)

That requirement threw one of those huge, red, heavy wrenches into this weekend. /rant

I don't have advice on how to solve it. But the good news is, per the posted animated gif, and extrapolating the metaphor implied therein... if you can dodge this spraying thing, then you can dodge a ball.

I can imagine.
Have you had any nibbles yet?

Nope. I'm a difficult candidate across a lot of different areas.
Even looking for temp work just to pay bills over summer or the next couple months, the degree shows that I'd rather do something else. They don't call back.

Applied for some advisor jobs. We'll see if they check in. Solid maybe, but really iffy.
No teaching jobs available. I've been an ideal candidate for a couple, but didn't get any calls.

There's a half-decent chance it's this job or bankruptcy, but we'll see how things really shake out.

KC fun picture of the granddaughter.

Good luck on the job Erik.

Watched Reverie the other night neat concept. It will be interesting to see if she slides off the deep end.

Are there post-docs or research fellowships in your field?

Do you happen to have a storage unit with your apartment? I'm guessing it's unlikely you do, but my wife and I have one with ours, and that's what made me think of it. Of course, that would likely mean packing them up like you're moving, just to unpack them.

Good day at work, got done in good time and even got some bike time in on the fat tire. Got off on some single track trails most of it went pretty good, bailed and restarted a few times. Better to hurt my pride than my body, after all I'm just learning how to do this total off road thing.

Only a handful. I'll apply in the fall for a 2019 one, maybe, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it.
The department at ISU is really good, but our reputation isn't highly ranked, so a lot of jobs are immediately out of reach. You basically look at smaller schools than ISU or teaching-based institutions, which is really where I'd love to be (unless ISU made up a job for me, but that doesn't happen).

Sara, put a bunch of that stuff on either your couch or your bed and cover it with a sheet. Well it's a suggestion anyway.

My wife and I gave notice to our landlord/property management in December that we would not be renewing our lease when it ends in July of this year. $1,440 was already a ridiculous amount to pay for rent, but it became more ridiculous in the past year when the supply/demand for apartments in Ames shifted and the family across the haul is paying $250 less than we are for the same size apartment. Just because we moved in July 2016 and the family across the hall moved in August 2017.

Get an email on Memorial Day that the property management would be entering our apartment for showings Tuesday-Friday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., and I didn't need to be home for the showings.

4:30 Friday afternoon, I'm in my living room playing PS4 when there's a knock at the door. I answer it to someone from the property management with a perspective tenant. Greeted with a, "Oh, you're home. We're here for a showing." Apparently "didn't need to be home" meant "don't be home". I get off work between 2:00 and 3:00. I'm supposed to stay away from my apartment for 2-3 hours four days in a row because you might be coming for a showing?

I let them in and went back to playing. The guy from the property management starts asking me questions. "Is this a 2 or 3-bedroom apartment. Is it Mediacom cable and internet out here?"

Needless to say, I can't wait to be done renting from this property management. /rant

Can't say I blame you!

Completed my interstate (90/94/43) day tour of southern Wisconsin. Borrowed nieces mini to drive to Racine to pick up this cool cherry TV stand from a Scandinavian furniture place. Nearly eight hours flying solo in a Honda Odyssey should certify me as a minivan pilot. Seriously, not sure I've ever driven one before but the Odyssey is a nice ride.

The navigational award for pretzel logic ended up being a tie with my GPS and WisDOT. WisDOT's detour south off of 94 through a hundred streets and turns in Milwaukee tied with the tour my GPS gave me of Racine County. JFC.

Tomorrow is helping niece and company load a truck full of household stuff bound for Montana via Twin Cities where my piece gets dropped off. Think they are going to miss this place here in La Crosse, it's in a very scenic area outside of town.

Hey, it ain't no dodgeball/kickball update but we have what we have now. :p

PS: Random observation, my toddler grandniece is pretty cute.
