Saw it on the local news here last night and then on GMA this morning. Said to MrsWx "Hey CG (used your real name but don't know how to pronounce it so I always feel like an idiot) said something about that on CF. She was very impressed.

Got worse today. Turns out the wife was a coworker until last year with young twins :(

Close coworker said his wife and daughter were literally a block away (driving) when it happened. Had no idea what was going on - just saw the explosion, then debris and bricks flying by the car and then people running.

I goofed around with Northeastern University's M.A. in Public History. The concentration appears in a good # of job searches.

No surprises here. Boston is pricey.
But if anyone wants to sent, just to be safe, $250k our way immediately, I'll go ahead and apply.
I got you

In lighter news, we did a thing about personalities today. And someone not my personality type was talking about her friend (who is same as I) who had a spreadsheet for a packing list when traveling. This person was like what?? Who does that??

And I'm like other people don't?????

But then she realized how great that idea was and had the friend send it to her as well.

Physics pun for the week (this time reviewing a buoyancy lab): "I like that the labs are interactive so they force you to be involved instead of floating through the class."

What are good places to stay at on the Vegas strip? Thinking of going, but never been there.

Is the Stratosphere good? That seems to be the best deal

What's your age? Older/slower pace = North side. Younger/faster pace = south side. Basically anything Bellagio and North or Cosmo and South. There are obviously exceptions to this rule but I think it's a good rule of thumb.

Stratosphere is "on the strip" but it's the end of the strip. WAY WAY WAY down there. The reason it's so cheap is that it's SO far away from everything and becoming kind of dumpy after 20 years of no renovations. They just announced some this year but aren't even close to getting started.

Paris Hotel usually has some deals and that's dead center of the fun part of the strip. Treasure Island and Mirage are cheap decent hotels up North. Then on the south end of the strip, the Mandalay Bay, Luxor, New York New York, and Planet Hollywood are all cheap but decent. All of those are starting to show their age though.

Then you also have like the Linq, Cromwell, and Excalibur for cheap and dumpy too. Plus that Hooters hotel lol.

My biggest recommendation is to book on the site of the hotel themselves. That'll give you the best priority if something happens. If you're using Orbitz or Booking.com or something, you're at the bottom of the barrel in their eyes.

Pneumococcal booster. But, yah, have had the old man shingles shot. Cause a trip to the doctor without needles is not a trip to the doctor at all.
Did the shingles. Had a Pneumo, but will need two more. I wasn't 65 for the first, but doc wanted me to get it early since I've had pneumonia several times now. :(

The shingles booster is supposed to be brutal.
Had a raised red, oddly square welt on my arm for a week or so. About an inch square, really really itchy. That's about it. No scar like most of my generation have from our small pox vaccines, a small circle on our upper left arm. They ended them before my kids came along, so unless you traveled overseas, you've probably not had one.

And even with the itchiness, it's STILL better than having full fledged shingles.

My dad had actual shingles and he like laid in bed for a week and whimpered the entire time.
