For those of you who know Fort Dodge - @Angie, @jcyclonee, @NWICY, et al - two long-time landmarks are slated for desertion. I have plans for a new $12M Catholic church on my desk, which will replace Sacred Heart and Corpus Christi churches, both of which are wonderful examples of church architecture. (Corpus Christi is on the list of national landmarks, I believe.) Many Catholics I know here are disappointed, if not disgusted.....but the sad truth is that the church is suffering from a crucial lack of clergy. Every single Catholic church in the county has been abandoned, except the two in FD. But this is a trend I see in all denominations.

No way! I was riding the DART bus to day care when I was in, like, second grade, and saw a little girl get hit by a car right in front of us in front of Corpus Christi. It and Sacred Heart are just beautiful (despite that slightly disturbing anecdote).

Is St Ed's still a school?

Still a school but enrollment appears to be slipping. Dropping classes in athletics is how I know.

After going to 3 grad parties on Saturday, my wife decided we better get some stuff done early so that we don't have to do it all next year just before my daughter's grad party. The list is already long enough that we won't get it all done in the next year.

We had to clean and paint the garage Saturday for next year. What’s the chance she I don’t have to do this at least 3-4 more times before then.

That makes sense. I had an old boyfriend whose family had gone there, and we used to go play basketball against their girls in 6th grade, so I was curious!

The obvious solution is to repurpose the churches as immigrant detention centers!

Sorry  couldn't resist.

Won't you need to charge admission for her grad party, so you can afford her college tuition?

It rained all day but just moved out in time that the CWS championship series should start on time.

Edit: The news just showed the tarp still on the field and the NCAA site tweeted out rain delay a few minutes ago.

Quiet here, must mean lots of work productively in the RTT world today.

Retired guy here was just slothing today but thought since it was not raining and the sun was out a little that he should do a sloth chaser ride. Plus the wind was gusting to 30 mph which is hard to resist.

Potpourri of sights:
Mile 1.5: Cool red vintage Triumph TR-3 sportscar.
Mile 5: Squealing/screeching woman child running from barn swallows at a park kiosk where they are presumably nesting. It was okay, her mom was laughing so it was not full on "The Birds". Or was it?
Mile 10: Great blue heron on the Lake Calhoun docks. Damn they are a big bird.
Mile 14: The orange butterfly weed is blooming in the railroad prairie. Purdy.
Mile 15: Screeching red tailed hawk. Moar birds. Hmmm?

What kind of bike do you have? I got one around Christmas time and put on an ok amount of miles on it but the heat is starting to get to me and haven't been on it in a while

Someone who I'm friends with that lives in my neighborhood joked all my tires had been slashed... And can't understand why I'm pissed when I went outside and saw they were fine.

In a weird turn of events, I was asked if I could do a project in Benin for 2-3 weeks in July.

I'll admit, I had to look up where it was exactly. After my quick 20min of research of the country, it sounds like it would be interesting at the very least.

It's neighbors with Togo, didn't you ever watch animaniacs bruh.
In that part of the world, I know Algeria because of it's size, Morocco because of it's location, and Senegal/The Gambia because of the weird Pac-Man thing they got going on. I would probably fail miserably labeling the rest
