Whose dumb idea was it to take physics online this summer? Oh yeah, mine. Homework sucks. Physics homework really sucks. Physics homework at 9:00 on a Sunday night in the summer? Brutal.

Welp rained in Clear Lake but not Mason City, but came close enough and looked bad enough Slow roll got cancelled about 1/3rd of the way thru. Picked up .3" at home today. Not much but not really needed.

3 inches of rain in last half hour. Saw areas of where I lived in forest city have water over car roofs. Waldorf looks waist deep in the street in front.

My brother and I have been doing a tradition of taking our Dad out to a movie and dinner for Father's Day. Last week my brother was at a wedding so we treated our Dad today. We went to the newest Jurassic World movie today. Solid movie but would say the previous one was better. This one though delivered on almost every emotion one could experience at a movie.

This was my second favorite, but I agree. The new trilogy (because it’s blatantly obvious there will be another one) isn’t going to win awards or anything, but so far it’s been a fun experience I don’t regret going to for either one of them.

We watched "The Post" last night. Pretty solid film, a little too much braggadocio regarding the rights of the press, but in light of Mr. "Fake News" it was probably needed. Meryl Streep solidified her position as the leading actress of her generation....she was brilliant.

Going to have to do some more reading on Daniel Ellsburg, he was pretty brave to steal classified documents and leak them to the press. But a hero nonetheless.

That 96 hour disaster recovery test from last week was extended until 2:00 am Tuesday. That's a total of 192 hours.
I wonder who's paying the extra 96 hours

Random annoyance of the day:

Last week someone in a project I'm involved with emailed the group with a solicitation for a charity they have decided to sponsor, asking for donations. Not the whole company, just the group of us on this project. I don't mind the big, company-wide donation things like toys for kids at Christmas, or United Way drives - and usually donate. This was a bit weird to me.

Now today they are emailing all of us again, specifically thanking the people who have donated (and naming names) which is extra annoying.

For those of you who know Fort Dodge - @Angie, @jcyclonee, @NWICY, et al - two long-time landmarks are slated for desertion. I have plans for a new $12M Catholic church on my desk, which will replace Sacred Heart and Corpus Christi churches, both of which are wonderful examples of church architecture. (Corpus Christi is on the list of national landmarks, I believe.) Many Catholics I know here are disappointed, if not disgusted.....but the sad truth is that the church is suffering from a crucial lack of clergy. Every single Catholic church in the county has been abandoned, except the two in FD. But this is a trend I see in all denominations.
That stinks. What a beautiful church Corpus Christi is. Where would the new church be?
