Well I think they made the right call cancelling the spring game as early as they did. Cy's House of Trivia is still on for tonight. Over half our team is coming from north central Iowa. I told them to leave early and pack a bag. We may be a makeshift motel tonight if people make it.

Mid have been bad by you. Wife just told me the country stand on 69 west of story city that she likes to stop at during games was destroyed.

Story City got hit with winds/tornado. I hadn't heard about Slim's yet though. :( Power poles were knocked down in that area, too. Not sure if there was a middle school dance or some kind of activity going on at the middle school but I saw one teacher/coach tweet out that all middle schoolers were safe in the locker rooms and they would stay with the kids until everyone got home safely.

The oldest went to the HS play in Gilbert last night. I figured if things went bad she was just as safe/safer up there. Supposedly the shelter room in the HS can withstand a missle blast (or so she says).

Sons ACT test was cancelled this morning. Was going to Algona. Algona moved their prom to Sunday afternoon and evening. I suppose if the tuxes are rented you are stuck for the weekend. We have freezing rain turning to sleet.

I see Ames prom is this weekend. And ISU softball double header hasn't been cancelled--that one is a head scratcher. It has been raining since 9pm last night, currently 32 and feels like 24.

I looked at the damage to Slim's on FB, they should hopefully be able to clean up and rebuild/fix damage before too long.

They should have some time to rebuild pending how much was left standing. Although raining on everything isn’t great.

A bigger town can probably handle holding prom easier. Less percentage of people coming in from the country and more places to eat in town. The HS I went to my Jr year, we all ate together at a local steak house party room. My school my senior year was wherever you wanted to, this is also how my kids’ current one does it. Definitely prefer who the oldest is going with instead of last year. Although he may have to actually ask someone next year since there wouldn’t be many to ask him.

I went to a Northwestern softball game last year that was pretty close to those conditions. On the 45 minute drive home afterwards, I had the seat heaters on and the floor/face heating vents on full blast. I still didn't feel warm by the time I got home.

Edit: the players seemed to love playing, they looked like they were having a blast, at least.

I guess since this is a non-conference series we don't have to abide by the "minimum temperature" to play set forth by the B12. That was the reason for moving games to OU last weekend. Snow is starting to collect on the grass now.

Bored. Yank game is rained out. Too cold to putter in the garage and you can only watch so many cars getting auctioned on TV by Barrett-Jackson. Thinking of heading over to LifeTime in spite of the wind gusting to 36 mph. It's totally poopie outside. Going to go clear the drive and ponder this more.

Should probably ponder over a hot toddy...

Well, go early and find a dinner date while there, because you know who are the only ones out in this weather............the crazy ones!

Every time I see a Barrett-Jackson auction it makes me jealous of those people buying some of those beautiful cars.

Last night was "affordable" cars. As the weekend rolls through the cars get more and more expensive. Damn, the 1950's convertibles this afternoon are going for $70k to over $100K. Just crushing it for pricing. And not the usual high price models either. Stuff going crazy is 1958 Buick Special, 1957 Bonneville etc, not just the 1959 Chevys and such.

And going nowhere this afternoon. Thought better of it. Probably got a good 7" plus on the ground already and this isn't even supposed to be the heaviest of it.

Edit 1: Thunder snow in the south metro. @wxman1 be all totes jelly.*

* totes jelly = Cowgirl language tribute

Edit 2: Thinking of firing up Chuck the Toro and hitting the driveway once it hits a foot, likely within the next hour. Not sure Chuck will be happy attacking 16" or so tomorrow. Going to need my old ski googles...still gusting to 30 mph out there. Woof!

Guessing they will not get in the Twins game tomorrow.

72 degrees one year ago tomorrow and I went on my first bike ride of the spring around the city lakes. :(

I had to stop and help push someone out on our roundabout and we got awesome lightning and thunder strikes while we were doing it. Daughter even said they heard it in their meeting inside.

I blew out driveway before I left and you could barely tell when I got back about an hour later.

Thinking it’s about time to clean driveways. Could let it melt, but wife probably wouldn’t be happy. Probably just do a half rear job and hope some melts next week.

The track meet last night wasn't so bad. A bit breezy, but was perfectly okay in a long sleeved tshirt, light jacket, and jeans. And, saved someone from breaking an ankle. They ran the shuttle hurdle, immediately followed by the 100m dash. I'm standing on the infield near the finish line, and there are two starting blocks still in the lanes, about 10 feet beyond the finish. I finally yelled something at the officials' table "There are still blocks in the lane!" An English Valleys runner grabbed one block, then the starter pistol went off. She hesitated to grab the other one, but one of the officials told her to get it. Good grief.

Just here watching out for the safety of 16 year olds.
