Son achieved another big step, now running on a tread mill and straight line running. No cuts and jumps, but coming along on the front side of abilities and responses.
So at first I wasn't about going to the bowl. Trips here are too long as far as days and really pricey, plus ISU has a home bball game with KSU that Friday. My buddy who I go with to bball games has a unique work schedule and a 8pm game which it is would force him to take the next day off which he doesn't want to.
So I'm not going to KSU game so trying to rally some family for the FB game. In my ideal scenario I'm able to work Friday and then we go most of the way Friday night. Get an early start to be there in time for the game, go to game then right after the game head out.
Go halfway Sat night and rest of the way on Sunday. A nice 45-48 down and back trip. I only miss 2 days of work.

In 1991 I had 2 tickets for game 1 of the World Series (Yep, I'm a Twins fan). As my buddy and I are walking up to the Humpdome, a woman approached and asked how many tickets we had. I replied that we had 2 - and she told us she would give us $500 for the pair. Didn't even ask where they were.
My buddy and I looked at each other and exchanged a silent agreement. I turned to the woman and said, "Lady, that's really tempting, but I may never get a chance to see my team in the World Series again, and so I'm going."
I never regretted that decision. Now, I'm not saying you may never get a chance to see the Cyclones play in a bowl game again, but.............
Just remembered that while calling the wrestling meet, the main guy hired forgot all the radio information. He says you are listening to, pause......., (In a training voice) 103.6. I look and announce this is WH wrestling on KHAM 103.1. He must have seen the look on my face because he pulls his headset and says, thanks I couldn't remember.

I do not find the new most interesting man, one bit interesting. More annoying than anything. The old one, yeah liked him and would like to hang with him some.
Trip to Costco last night. Went into the store and it was pleasant sweatshirt weather. Came out and it was windy and raining the coldest rain in the history of cold rains.
Also, we bought a 9 pound pork roast for $10. Does that put us in the salmonella lottery or does it guarantee salmonella?

Meh, bowl games. ISU played in three bowl game in the 1970s and I didn't go to any of them since I was either a student or just out of school and broke. Then we had a 22 year drought so I did go down to the Insight in 2000. That was a lot of fun and went again to Houston for that ****** bowl in 2005 (that was not fun at all) and haven't been to any others. Don't regret missing any of them in person other than the 1972 one. Most of the games themselves were very forgettable and the locales we lame. If I am going to the expense and trouble of traveling to an exhibition game I'd just like it to me something more what we have been getting over the years.
BTW, I rank only two of our bowl games as "good games", the 2000 win over Pitt and the 30-31 loss in 1972 where we went for two to win at the end, really great games that I actually remember because they were entertaining and good football.

Post game thread day on CF is always entertaining. So filled with stupid. It's a different kind of stupid after wins but it's still stupid as all get out. 
I'm jealous. I would have loved to have seen that series. What's funny/sad is that $500 for 2 WS tickets is practically face value now.
I'd recommend leaving it on the counter until you use it. Refrigerators are for wusses.
Winter happened. I ran yesterday afternoon and about 1/2 mile in realized I dressed too warm for the 57 degree temp and 51 degree dewpoint. Right now it's 17 degrees and wind is gusting to 37. Winter.
Winter sound track has changed also. Rather than the constant sound of gas yard blowers from armies of lawn monkeys it's the sound of chainsaws.
Would rather have been at Game 7 (that has to be one of the three or four greatest Game Sevens in the history of baseball), but it was truly epic. You had to literally scream at the people standing next to you to be heard or understood. I have never been in one place with so many absolutely crazy joyful people in my life - and probably never will again.
I bought the tickets at face value ($40) the day before the game from a guy who was desperate to unload them. I had also been at Game 1 of the ALCS that year against the Blue Jays. We were a few rows behind the 1st base dugout (we got the tix from an employee of Carl Pohlad) and the Toronto players' wives sat in the row right behind us. Talk about an atmosphere.....
Got fuel at caseys. While inside saw two 80+ year old old farmers that I like giving crap to. So I sit down and watch a women fly up and jump the curb right in front of us. Just misses the building. Two old guys I think filled their pants.
I'm sure glad that Jeff Beverly has stepped up to fill the role of ISU Men's Basketball Fan Whipping Boy. The dude is our top offensive rebounder - the only Cyclone on the league's leaderboard - yet people feel it appropriate to flame on him continually. Just read that John B. Anderson died. I voted for him in 1980. An extinct breed, a fiscally conservative guy who developed liberal social views. Started out as a lock in step Goldwater conservative but changed over time and by the 70's he was viewed as very independent. Actually even by the late 60's when he cast the deciding voted to move the Fair Housing Act to the floor. No place for guys who voted for what they think is right over party these days.
And that is a sad sad fact for all of us.
Yup, part of the stupid. Team is going to likely be a rollercoaster this year but we will have some entertaining moments. I kinda trust the coach more than the CF experts.
We have similar problems Rulzzz. One son is a groomsman in a wedding the night before the game. We are all going to the wedding as well. It is in Crapids which puts us farther from Memphis. Would have to leave reception early and drive through night. Son's sixth tux of 2017. He needs fewer friends lol.
We had an absolute blast there last time. The pep rally and parade were a lot of fun, one of sons had friends in the band and we hung with them some. The drive through the night thing would mean we would probably need to stay the night and maybe do some Memphis stuff, but we did most of the things we can last time. Couldn't do New Year's on Beale because of underage kids and still have three of those, also too young for casinos in Tunica. And we would have to miss the fun stuff before the game this time, so sort of in a quandary.
Plus we would need at least two rooms and wow are they looking expensive. I suppose airbnb might be a better option or just staying somewhere like Tunica since we can't go to bars anyway.
Would be nice if you could find someone on here in a similar situation. If we go, we would probably spend the night to recover and that wouldn't work for you, and at that investment, we would probably stay until Jan. 1. Plus, we are leaning towards not going. Will keep you in mind if we decide to go and do the quick turnaround. We would have plenty of drivers at least.
