Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

There's a Ken Burn's documentary about saving refugees from the Nazis on PBS. I think Tom Hanks is in it, it looks like it'll be good

Woo did you watch? I really liked it. For any one looking for it, it was called The Sharps war I think. I liked the end where they summarized how things ended up. It would be easy to say ordinary people doing extraordinary things, but when you do things like that you aren't ordinary.

So I guess this new cf isn't nearly as family safe as the old one. There are some pictures in these pick threads that are really pushing the envelope.

Are you talking about the Brangelina thread? What movie is the Anniston water gif from? It was pretty much smoke. I personally haven't seen anything inappropriate for the demographics of CF IMO. The thing that has surprised me is loosening of the profanity filters.

No...he's talking about the four NCAA football survivor threads. A lot of the guys post pics of cheerleaders/fans wearing (or mostly wearing) the school colors from the team they are picking for that week. There's a Stanford gal in the current thread that is wearing a backpack. That's it. Just a backpack.

Wait, what did wdsm get from me? Side dishes to try and bring to me?

The Sharp thing wasn't as Ken burnsy as you would expect but still good.

Chicken was good, dh still not a squash fan. I probably am not really either.

CG, how did you prepare the squash? I halve them then put butter, brown sugar, and bacon in the hollow part and then bake until fork tender.

The start of this post had TWSS written all over it.

Yeah, I thought it was great. And I always like hearing what happened to them after.

Eh, unless I'm missing something obvious, it's a bit of a stretch. Not the best one I've heard

I thought it was neat how many became professors. A doctor, too. Rescued and brought here as refugees who go on to live the American dream. I read a book about the Isle of Guernsey where a lot of London parents sent their kids during the blitz. I thought that must have been hard. Can't imagine how hard for those kids and parents in the documentary knowing it was a higher chance they'd be killed rather than reunited.
