Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Back from Oshkosh. We found a couple of plane models to go after if dad ever gets his medical worked out. I didn't drink nearly enough for being in Wisconsin.

Today is my 20th year since quitting smoking.
6 am on July 31 1996 I smoked my last cigarette outside of Mary Greeley as I was going in for jaw surgery.
Went from 2 1/2 packs a day to nothing. Every time I wanted a smoke I would get up and take a walk around the block. Needless to say I took a lot of walks.

Congrats! I'm sure your body and your family is just as happy for you!

One of our doctors was very sick about a month ago. Like, we are all very happy that they are still with us kind of sick.

She had planned to be off for 2 weeks solid, so rescheduling those patients was no problem, as we had some advanced warning. There's been 2 instances where she has planned on working the next day, but ended up in the hospital the night before with a nasty infection. So we had to emergency reschedule those patients of hers we couldn't accommodate with one of our other doctors.

I had one lady ***** at me on the phone when she called back to reschedule because "I lost my sunglasses and this is really inconvenient that she has to wait till tomorrow to have her exam", and then we had the mom of 2 kids come in yesterday for appointments that we had to reschedule and pissed and moaned the whole time because "we shouldn't have to take up our whole Saturday because your doctor didn't want to come to work when we were originally scheduled."

It's just embarrassing the state that the human race is in right now. It doesn't even make sense to me. This earth needs a hard reset.

And people like to ***** that millenials are entitled.

I'm sorry that they weren't more understanding. People can be really selfish.

Not trying to paint a broad stroke, but if some millennials are entitled, chances are they learned that mindset from somewhere else.

Congrats. It's nine years as of last month for me (and for PapaLew). We're ALL better off because we quit! :)

Congrats on the anniversary GR8 :)

My step mom quit in a similar fashion, she had knee replacement surgery and only smoked outside. Her recovery was rough, so she just gave it up.

Things I learned yesterday from the little guys. Every plane that flies over is a C-5 Galaxy. Most were airlines. They ended up getting the last word when an actual C-5 flew over and we confirmed for them it was one. You would have thought ISU just kicked a field goal in OT to beat the Sooners.

we survived. Older one wasn't as fond of me when she left because she had been pushing every boundary and then getting mad when I used stern parent voice. I suspect the grandparents let her get away with more than the parents do and she figured we would be the same. DH termed her (to me) an "emotional terrorist" for the ways was picking on the younger one trying to get her to cry. There was an incident where the younger was cleaning up a game and ignoring the older saying "I'm going to leave you" for several minutes. Note that the younger had had a couple incidents of crying for the parents (she's not as familiar with us) so that was a good way to make her cry and she had already used it a couple times. Finally, older went and stole some of the things the younger was picking up so she would pay attention and start crying. This of course, resulted in crying and fighting.

DH found the cards, let younger put them away, and then put the game out of reach. DH then got called mean for taking away the game. So evened up my "mean" score.

we swapped them out around 3 and then went to help friends move. Got there about 4, packed and unloaded two trips and got home about 1am. Friends were very grateful for our help cause they didn't have a lot of young bodies to help. Other couple friend (that we do more stuff with like that play a few weeks ago) came way later than expected because they were at a play again that got extended due to an emergency. They told us on the car ride back to the apartment that they considered not coming but didn't want to be bad friends. I was like you are really good friends for still coming this late even though I hate you for texting me about your fireball shots last night.

So very long day but good overall.

I sent my wife the selfie I took of me in front of the C-5 Thursday night. LittleWx apparently saw it and went "Daddy!" "Pane!" Daddy!" "Pane!" until my wife got tired of showing it to him.

Did you get the crying on the phone? That would help if you're wanting to increase the ransom.

Pretty sure if the parental units were not here this weekend that I would be solidifying an identify as Mean o' Uncle Boxster.

BTW, glad to see you are still alive after reading how young the children are in Wisconsin who turn out to be sociopathic killers.*

*Now alarming myself as I realize my the grandruffians now live in Wisconsin!
