Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

My building is under construction and all of our windows are covered. This is driving me nuts to not be able to look out with a storm rolling in.

Bad plumbing??

Little moat around the oval sushi bar that had little boats with plates of sushi on the that you could pick up. You could self serve from what they had "floating" or order something from the chef in the middle. Sort of kitsch but also sort of fun. You could try something that caught your eye that you had not had before.

So floating on your back in a kelp forest while eating mussels and clams?

No, it's at a zoo and it's a swimming pool. I've learned you can also swim with them at discovery cove in Orlando. I'd i do Florida, I can also swim with a dolphin and see my family. Pretty sure it's going to be my birthday trip next year.

We did Discovery Cove on our honeymoon and it was awesome. Pricey but is all you can eat/drink there, swim with dolphins, snorkeling in this tropical lagoon thing with all these tropical fish and stuff, aviary, monkeys and this river float thing. Plus it gets you into Sea World for 7 days or so around your Discovery Cove date.

I think this is what I'll probably end up doing. The California one is $300 for an hour of swimming with otters, where discovery cove was $400 to have the day there snorkeling and the swimming with dolphins. I'll be trying to sell my friends on going to Florida with me next fall. I know Disney always does a food and wine festival in the fall, one of my brothers is always raving about how great it is. I haven't been to Disney since I was a teen, so it'd be fun to go back. I did Universal studios a few years ago for my 30th, took my bestie along because she LOVES Harry Potter.

Ichiban closing.

Used to go there enough with CWW#2 that the sushi chef knew us. Didn't do the "steakhouse" part much (where they chop and cook at your table) but it was always a good show when we did with friends from Iowa.

As soon as you posted this I wondered if the construction had anything to do with it. I see they recognize the possibility of it in the article. Despite working within walking distance I only set foot in Ichiban one time.

My favorite restaurant in SF (downtown at the Japan Center): Isobune Sushi

Is there a medical condition similar to depression but for apathy? My wife claims I'm apathetic to almost everything (outside family) and I find it impossible to be motivated by anyone. Either I'm self motivated or not at all. I also don't find other people inspirational. Ever. I just don't go though highs and lows. Just always steady.

Last time I really got angry at anything was probably 3-4 years ago and it was over something really dumb, like being unable to find something in my closet. Wife thinks I bottle things up, but I really don't think I do. I just don't let most things bother me at all. I asked my brother and he said the name of the condition is that I'm an *** hole. I'd like to think it's more of a chemical imbalance. Thoughts?

I think I just like to live a drama-free life. I remove everything that adds drama to my life, or just plain ignore it/avoid it. Anyone else like this as well, or just me?

I'm the same way. Ignore/avoid drama. One reason I'm not on Facebook.

Sounds like you have the Pants Black Heart condition. Good luck.

Isn't it kind of un-American to NOT be angry all of the time? :swoon:

I'm pretty much spot on with you. Worry about what you can control, otherwise **** it. But I do admit I'm an *** hole.
