Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

Yesterday I wear pants and the school doesn't have the air on, today I wear shorts and it's freezing in here. My phone capitalized pants at first for some reason.

Stupid bored right now, mrs00 and little00 went to one of his friends' place for a play date, I'm hanging here waiting for littlest00 to finish his nap, then I might take him out and come back and finish making ribs. So basically, I'm listening to a podcast and surfing the web while waiting for him to wake up.

Oh great, is this going to turn into a tip vs not tip thread?

Where's Boxster for an Archer "just the tip" meme?

No internet connect most of this last week. Hotel in Amsterdam has the interweb so checking in. Not even going to try and read all of this stuff and that includes that murder thread.

When I get home next weekend I am going to do some catchup watching of Archer and GoT.

At the Rijksmuseum today looking at one of the most famous paintings in the world, Rembrandts The Night Watch, but that's not what I am bringing to RTT.

I am bringing narwhals from the Rijks!

I hope you're practicing safe browsing (VPN and whatnot). I think "a hotel in Amsterdam" is right up there with a cheap hotel in Vegas as far as 'free Wi-Fi' I'd be leery of.

Who sets up a site visit on a Monday morning? It's like they want no one to show up.

To help you with the murder thread, just go ahead and tell GTO that you want to haunt me. That will be all you need to do right now.

So, an almost LOL example (for me anyway) of "God works in mysterious ways"...this Catholic Podcast I listen to on the weekends has a segment of "Parish of the week", where they highlight a parish within the 4 dioceses that this show is broadcast live, around Chicago. This week, the parish was St. John Cantius in Downtown Chicago. It's a mile down Chicago avenue from the old water tower. It's also an odd church in that it's not staffed by the diocese of Chicago, so they're a little more flexible in what they can do. They do the latin mass twice on Sunday in addition to 2 english versions. The latin mass was kind of phased out thru the second vatican council in the early 60's, but it's still a valid form of mass. If anything, some parishes with older members might do one service once a month. I've never been to a latin mass. They also do art shows, gregorian chant concerts and stuff.

Well, apparently, it also sits in this hipster community, and the hipsters are coming in droves because it's 'not mainstream', and it's the 'craft beer of catholic churches'.

Sara, you mentioned state track. Were you a lucky one and got to sit in the air conditioning? For some reason the first arrival people always want to sit in the crappiest spot in the stadium. I'm a nice hue of red.

I did, in fact. Although, the air conditioning wasn't quite working yesterday morning. I saw a Drake maintenance man up by the press box, so I think we had it on by 10.

Hmmm. Did you have to stay until the bitter end? I just realized that I was down on the field at that time.

Can someone explain to me how my neighbor across the street who verbally abuses his daughter in the front yard about her softball pitching, who absolutely refuses to wear a shirt when he's at home during the summer, is somehow still the color of Elmer's glue?

And RTT resident lawyers: As I understand property law, if someone's actions prevent you from enjoying your property by their actions, you have grounds for a lawsuit...so I could sue my neighbor for being fat and pasty and not wearing a shirt and verbally abusing his kids in the front yard so that I can't enjoy sitting in my front yard? I mean, right now he's just mowing, but he's still fat and pasty.

There is just no possible way CycloneBBfan isn't a troll. No possible way. He's absolutely got to be. He's bordering Bode level stupid posts.
I bet he is the reincarnation of that CF poster who was a high school kid that ran a twitter account with ISU predictions/inside info. You remember that user? I can't think of the user name, but they have the same exact posting style.

But he's got transfer folders!

Like someone else mentioned, he may be special needs.

I don't see it with his posting style. I think he's just someone that wants to "prove" he has more knowledge than everyone else.

People on the autism spectrum often have extreme problems with social skills. Some can be very assertive, particularly when they don't have to look you in the eye. We knew a young man who had family in our church. He was an ISU grad...and very intelligent. He also had zero capacity to think outside the box. He used to come to game night at our church and I recall one time when I answered a Trivial Pursuit question about a boxer with "Cassius Clay" because the question referred to his Olympic medal. The game said the answer was Muhammed Ali, and he became quite irate when the other players said I had it right. In his mind, even though they were the same person Muhammed Ali was the answer on the card, and therefore my answer was wrong.

Some posters on here remind me of that young man. They have their thoughts and opinions, and they will cling to them to the bitter end.

Others are just stupid trolls.
