They say if they get to 7 years they're doing really well. They just have so much that can go wrong with them. Peanut was 3 1/2, and that's when things can potentially start popping up.

Hey Bags, sorry to hear about your loss. I had a few non-traditional pets over the years (ferrets, chinchilla, rabbit, guinea pig, cockatiel). Ferrets get a bit of a bad rap from most people, but they are really fun pets with a ton of personality.

Sadly, ours were all defeated by kidney failure which is unfortunately very common for them. It was really brutal to watch their fun-loving spirits wane as the disease progressed. I'm not sure if that was the reason for having to let go of Peanut, but regardless, choosing a humane way to end their suffering is a truly selfless thing to do.
