College kids are getting dumber. We were doing some work at the college, working from a sidewalk. We had one end blocked with 2 barricades and the other with the truck. There was about 16 inches of clearance between one side of the truck and a guardrail for a wheelchair ramp up to the library, and none on the other side. Had 2 people walk between the guardrail and the truck, but that was before the boss started cutting. Seriously, go the **** around.
While we are working, I'm standing away from the tree, by the barricades making sure no ******* on a skateboard looking at their phone tries to get around them, or anyone just walking while looking at their phone for that matter. I had a girl on a bike come to me and ask "Is this blocked off?"
I'm like:
Then I had to show another girl how to get around us safely because she wanted to get to her car. She had to walk through some small trees and shrubbery, she didn't seem to like that. I'm sorry we inconvenienced you. Not. These college kids act like we should stop working and let them through. My boss calls them ****in idiots and charges more because we have to deal with that ****.

Ugh. Automated HR system rejections are the worst. No, I have no idea what the particular specification you want knowledge of is, but I'm pretty damn sure that I can read it and figure it out. You're advertising for a PhD position, if it doesn't take more than a week or two to learn, it is a dumb thing to disqualify over.
Also, I want to amend my earlier statement. USAJOBS automated email system is the worst. I've gotten an email for a position I got rejected for two weeks ago every single day for the past two weeks. I get that I didn't get the job, I really do. No need to remind me every day for the rest of my life.

Yeah, Chaser, they were definitely hitting on you. You were supposed to pick up something heavy and grunt a bit. That would have gotten you their numbers at least.
You failed the "the applicant has the ability to realize what the desired answer is and give that answer" requirement. It's very important in PhD positions, particularly moreso in university environments.
Uuuuuuuuhhhhhhh...........that might have worked. Grabbing your junk does attach some chicks I guess.
What really boggles my mind is the girl on the bike was about 20 ft away talking to someone for about 2 minutes before she came up to me. I guess chainsaws are inaudible to her.
