Nickles - I feel your pain, dealing with aging parents long distance. Fortunately for me, my sister is far more competent that your stepsister (by all appearances, anyway). If it was the middle sister doing the dealing with Daddy, I'd probably be in the same boat as you.

I hope you can get things straightened out.

My step-sister is driving me nuts today. My parents are older and memories aren't the greatest, but they've always been fine to take care of themselves everytime I have been home. This morning I get a phone call that I can't take (because of work) and then a message saying that there must be something wrong with my step-mom because she can't remember what month it is, who the president is, or how she got dressed this morning (really....these are the questions she asked?) I call home when I get time for a break (because, you know, like a normal person I have to work) and she sounds okay, remembers that her birthday is in two days.

Shortly after I get a message that she's called back and told her to contact her dr and step-mom couldn't remember the doctors name.

Step mom goes to dr, dr tells her to go to hospital for testing. Hospital sends her home (unsure of if she had tests, but she frequently gets bladder infections so probably).

Mom calls, sounds fine.

Sister texts telling me I need to call the hospital because they won't tell her what is going on.

I have two brothers, she never messages them about anything but I have to solve all of her problems while I work my two jobs and she sits at home on her ***.

what is she (the step-sister) expecting you to do over the phone? The doctor won't tell her anything and she thinks they'll tell you? Unless you have the medical permission whatever thing, I don't think they can tell you either.

I'm pretty sure I am listed as a person the doctor can release information to, my step-sister isn't.

ah, that makes more sense then. Was there a reason she couldn't talk to your mom or she just wanted to know what the doctor would say? Since it wasn't an emergency, can't she wait for you to call until you get off work?

She'll call my mom, text me with questions about my mom, and then expect me to drop everything and call her to find out.

Just finished a day-long meeting with a client over DQSA legislation. Luckily there were no guns nearby or I would have been tempted to put myself out of my misery.
