Honestly, I think middle names are pointless and stupid. It's an antiquated tradition that doesn't have much purpose other than for family tradition or because people think people have to have a middle name. I get it more if your last name is a very common last name, but most people really don't have any kind of a need for them.

What about Vivian for a middle name? Is this acceptable? DH is all no, but I have always wanted to use it. Family name.

I hear Vivian, and my first thought is Vivian Vance, who played Ethel on I Love Lucy.

But yes, if you want to go obscure/classic/ family name, use it as a middle name. The public will only hear it at their graduation, and possibly their wedding.

Oh....and perhaps if you as a parent get really angry at them in public.

isn't that the whole purpose of a middle name? haha

A rare case where they're handy: I had one class where two students had the same first and last names. It helped my to keep their assignments apart when they included their middle names.

I would have just used their middle initial, but that was the same as well. ID numbers would work, but I do everything I can to avoid having people give me ID numbers.

If I ever had you, I would've just written "ISUCubswin" and see how awkward you make it since you don't want to know who your students are on CF

what are you going to be teaching when you teach? you know what I've noticed? The kids who cause the most trouble turn into teachers. This is fitting for you. I feel like they can catch all the tricks more easily. but I still find it funny that they are educating the youth.

In the small college I went to, the mail was sent to one PO Box, and then the mailroom staff on campus sorted them into boxes that you shared with another student, paired alphabetically.

There was a girl in my major who not only shared first and last names with another girl on campus, but also middle names....only one spelled it Lynn and the other spelled it Lynne. Yes, they shared a mailbox. Yes, they would inadvertently get each others mail. All. The. Time.

woof. that would suck. Makes spelling your name all the time not seem so bad.

I knew a girl who thought she was a werewolf and a guy who thought he was a vampire. It was really weird when they went to an homecoming dance together and hissed and howled at each other the whole time.

the guy figured it out after he noticed her hiding from the moon. Said the excessive "nibbling" made sense then too.

My wife had a very common maiden name...like the most common, and she has a first name that was very popular when she was born. There were 3 girls in her high school class with the same, not sure about middle names. One of them was a hell raiser, my wife was a goody-two-shoes, but yet whenever the other gal got in trouble outside of school, she got called to the principle's office. I have a very uncommon last name, and she was really happy to take my name and get away from those problems. I warned her about having to spell it for everyone, but she was okay with that.

I really want to watch more Hell on Wheels but Dh will be ****** even though he won't admit that he's hooked too. Lead guy is super hot. Channing tatum? Jump off a cliff.

So every day I leave from work, I go across the hall to one of my employee's office and put something in her chair. Yesterday was an empty water cooler jug. Today was a full sized human card board cutout. After a few weeks, I'm running out of things. She's like, 4'11 and 80 pounds soaking wet and just came back from that mastectomy surgery involving boobie cancer so she can't lift anything heavy at all. It's getting tough trying to find things around the office.
