Dean, would you like some pie? Pantsy is never going to fly us (Papalew & I) to Hawaii so that I can bake one for him...Florida might be an adequate substitute. :)

Just ignore the boys over there shaking hands.

I notice you list Clarence...do you live right in Clarence? I work with a few people from there...considering the size, I'm guessing you probably know of them, but I won't put either of you on the spot by naming names.

Yes, right in town. Kind of the SE corner. Not where the new houses are, but in there with the ones built in the 70's and 80's. I've lived here since 2010, but only 1/2 years (6 months in FL). Like the town, wish there was a grocery store (even a Dollar General). Maybe a few too many people parking their cars in the yard next to the front door for my taste, but I've actually never been a small town dweller before and decide to try it out.

I was probably leaning nerdish in HS, but not 100% nerd.
Thanks for the recommendations, but I honesty will probably just not bother. Kind of just pointing out that I didn't realize I'd not ever seen a Robin Williams movie until he died.

Yes, come to FL during the season. Make us a pie or we can just go to Publix and get a Key Lime pie. (Funny story, my Mom - now 88 - on a long ago visit to FL pronounced it "Pube-licks" instead of "Pubb-licks". All very innocent on her part. I've never heard my mother say a swear word in my entire life.)
 
Probably didn't mean cliquish. Just insider-ish. Been painting the 1/2 bath in the basement and giving less attention to CF only to decide, "Sheesh, that thread is mega mega now. I won't go back and read it all to get caught up, I'll just throw in some new randomness."

That's what I like to see on the thread, less insidery and more randomy!

Oh, no, Dean...you misunderstood the deal. :) Pantsy promised he'd fly hubby & me to Hawaii to bake the pie for him because pies don't travel well. I don't eat storebought pie if I can help it...you're supposed to fly us down there and I'll bake it for you & the missus. Apple, Peach (ooops) and Pecan are my specialties. As a team, PapaLew & I make a mean rhubarb pie - he makes the filling, I make the crust. ;)

Are you down on the southern tip in FL? PapaLew & I were there about 4 years ago. We Flew in to Ft Lauderdale and took an RC cruise of the Eastern Caribbean, then on our return, spent a day in the Everglades, then headed up the coast to Cocoa Beach (where I lived from 66-69), then up to the Cape for a day, then flew home out of Orlando. We had a wonderful time. The only downer on the trip was the fact that the day before our Haiti port of call they had that huge earthquake. We were supposed to be docking on the north side of the island; the earthquake centered around Port Au Prince on the south side. The captain debated skipping Haiti and going to a different place, but then decided to give aid. They loaded huge pallets of bottle water and dry goods in the hold of our ship before we set sail, and the passengers took up a collection to donate to the Red Cross relief effort. Royal Caribbean donated all of the foods loaded up, and paid for the trucking to get the goods from the north side of the island to Port Au Prince.

What the heck, KC, where HAVEN'T you lived, apparently? I've read posts of growing up in texas cattle country, and I thought I saw something about Washington state, and how ever many years in Ames, now Florida? I'm going to need a flowchart, it seems.

To your first question in the quote, according to the interwebs maps, Jensen Beach that he lists is east of the north end of Lake Okeechobee, so in the southern 1/3 of FL, but not Miami/Lauderdale south. Port St. Lucie is nearby, I've never been to FL, but that is a town I've heard of, maybe it's one you know.
 
Born in Covina (now West Covina), part of greater L.A., family moved back to TX when I was 6 mos old. Ft Worth until I was five. Then Bellevue, WA (near Seattle) till 1966. Cocoa Beach from 66 to 69. Back to Bellevue where I graduated from HS. Went to the opposite side of the state to Wazzu. Met & married 1st hubby, stayed in Pullman til he finished his PhD. Both boys were born there. Moved to Manhattan KS for a 20 month post-doc, then to San Francisco for a research job in 1980. Came here in 83.

Used to pose an interesting problem when people would ask where I'm "from". Is that where I was born, where my roots are (and where I learned to talk "funny"), where I lived the longest, where I lived most recently before moving here? I've lived in every region of this country except New England & the non-contiguous states. :)

And I really need to sleep.... ;)
