If you're not on CF frequently it's hard to keep up on this thread. I was off the radar for the better part of 10 days with a bathroom facelift and then houses guests for 4 days. Whew - I'm finally caught up.

If you're going to the Fair on Sunday I'm at the booth with the scale in Varied Industries for half the day, weighing people. Seriously - people come to the Fair to be weighed in public and then take the little printout home with them. It never ceases to amaze me.

Do they get mad at you if they don't like the result?

Yep. Then we hear a whole lecture about how the scale is off because that's not what they weight on their cheap-o scale at home...meanwhile, this is a certified scale operating within legal specs.

Be honest, you surreptitiously step down on it when it's reading, don't you?

I've been off the thread for about 4 or 5 days. It just seemed too cliquish, but it's probably just me.

Thinking about the Robin Williams thing. I guess I'm pretty pathetic...

I was reviewing the list of movies he's been in and going, nope, nope, nope. Decided I maybe saw Moscow on the Hudson and Mrs. Doubtfire. Then realized I was confusing the Dustin Hoffman man-in-drag movie (Tootsie) with it - to realize, no I hadn't seen it either.

I remember being impressed by his talent as Mork, but put off by the vehicle (Mork & Mindy) so rarely watched it.

I can't really say why I missed all his movies. I used to go to movies a lot, but tapered off in the 90's and even more so after that, so that partially explains it.

Part of getting older is you care less and less about current popular culture as you go. Even though you say you won't (I swore I wouldn't) it happens.

As one of the probable 'clique', I'll say this...yeah, we have our inside jokes and running commentary, but I'd never intentionally push someone out or belittle them. So, you're always welcome, and if you don't get a joke or comment, no worries, sometimes we're just entertaining ourselves, and we're easily entertained.

I notice you list Clarence...do you live right in Clarence? I work with a few people from there...considering the size, I'm guessing you probably know of them, but I won't put either of you on the spot by naming names.

Bolded is totally things nerds say in high school.

As for Williams, I always recommend What Dreams May Come and Good Morning Vietnam.

Also, if you're okay with super raunchy comedy, his HBO broadway stand up show is hilarious.

I think the problem is, this thread has two speeds: super human fast and super slow. If you get it when it's moving fast, your posts can be missed. If you get in when it's slow, sometimes hours can go by and the next person feels the "topic" is done so they move on.

I don't think anyone pushes anyone out, but those two things can probably make it feel "clique-ish".
