It's hard as a Corps of Engineer guy to decide which sucks more, Huntsville or Vicksburg. The heat. The humidity. The crappy food. All of the Confederates still running around. The ****** hotels. I really hate Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.

Made the mistake of having this conversation with someone in our division office in Vicksburg some years ago:

Division guy: Since Iowa State is playing in the Independence Bowl will you be coming down to Shreveport?
Me: Hell no, if Louisiana is the ***-hole of the USA than Shreveport is the ***-hole of Louisiana.
Division guy: Shreveport is my hometown.

I already had about 5 or 6 Huntsvilles under my belt before I got to Vicksburg, so it felt like a breath of fresh air at the time. By the end of the week, not so much. I did drive across the bridge into Louisiana to add that to my "States I've been to." list.

Near the end of the week we also had a guy from the deep south with a very very pronounced southern accent. He piped up (drawled) in class one day when someone noticed his manner of speech with a half speed, "I don't talk any different from Y'all!" which broke up the whole class.

You don't even have to be optimistic. Just, why do some feel they have to post about how much we're going to suck in like, recruit threads and "my tickets came in the mail today" threads? You can feel we'll suck all you want, but ******, you don't have to pollute every thread with it.

*note, when I say "you" I mean in general, not specifically you.
 
I've been on a plane for six hours. And apparently I have another three. In what world is Phoenix to Denver three hours? Does that not seem right to anyone else?

If you take Cyclone Football too seriously you are not long for this world. I'm just looking forward to watching some football and hoping we see some progress, any progress, on offense by the end of the season. Wins are gravy for me.

I feel your pain. It does get old trying to read anything in that forum when some people are just so negative.

I used to love going to games when I lived near Ames and sat through an awful lot of terrible games in the 80's & 90's. Now I try to get over for a couple of games a year and a few years ago starting trying to get to a couple of the away games each year.

That's how the airlines keep their "on time" numbers. Schedule so much leeway that it's almost impossible to miss your arrival time.
 
Here's a random thought.

I ******* hate it when I have to sneeze with a mouthful of food. Just happened and luckily I avoided getting chicken sandwich up my nose.
 
I like that Mangino hasn't even been here for one game yet and there's already a thread asking how long until he leaves.

The guy that started that thread screams troll to me. He's done a lot of "Would you rather have player A versus player B" stuff that usually ends badly. And his avatar is just creepy
