Random thoughts thread

All 3 of these posts remind me how I've been thinking that this really isn't a 'random thoughts' thread anymore...plus, why are we fluffing rhino's cycredit count with the posts in this one, and maybe we should start a "CF Chat lounge" thread...but, I didn't want to just start it if everyone was dead set on this one.

Pants/Cowgirl/KC, and other random stoppers by....what say you?

That's all I am to you? Just a random stopper with random thoughts? Ouch. Happy Tuesday to you too.

WDSM loves me and he knows it.

I love chat threads, so if one gets started, I'll be there. If we stay here, I'll keep posting here.

Why is it that in every. Single. Football thread someone feels they have to go in and talk about how awful we're going to be? It's literally every thread. Even if it's something not related at all to how people think we'll do, they still feel they have to randomly pop in and say how terrible they think we'll be.
Some people just can't be optimistic about Cyclone Football. This will be season 38 for me. You have to be optimistic about the upcoming season, because usually that's all we have. You also have to have a sense of humor to be a Cyclone football fan. If not it's too depressing.

Dat reality.

You have my attention. I, like everyone else, would love to hear how/why the bunny boiler nickname started.

I'll start off with something kinda creepy. I started replying to this last night and my internet connection went down. This was moments after I declined bunny boiler's friend request. I almost did the whole walk-through-the-house-with-a-bat thing.

Anyway, here's the story

I was really shy starting off in college and had just dumped the high school girlfriend (I'll definitely say this was a **** move by me). I was determined to broaden my horizons so I went with a friend to a rave in search for a little companionship. I walked up to this girl that was commanding a LOT of attention in the middle of the floor and pulled her to the side and we started dancing (very bold for me at the time). After 2 songs she leans in and says, "I wanna **** you right here in the middle of the dance floor right now."

Well, I didn't do that.

The warning bells should have gone off, but I was feeling pretty good about the position my new-found confidence. I ended up dating her for a couple weeks. A few weeks in, the whole relationship took a weird turn. I thought it had just run its course and that she was going back to being the "party girl".

After that, there were a bunch of late night crazy calls, she showed up to my work, she showed up to one of my classes. One morning in the dorms, I came out of the shower (maybe 7 AM) and she was sitting in the hall on the floor with her back against my door.

In the end, it got ugly and a little scary honestly, but one day everything just stopped and I never saw her again. I found out during my junior year that she ended up sleeping with about 10 different guys on my floor.

(just re-read this. sorry if that first part sounded a little Penthouse forum-y) :embarrassed:

Am I the only one that's going to acknowledge one of the most random posts in the post a random thought thread?

I've been to Vicksburg a couple times and through the battlefield and already knew they didn't celebrate 7/4 for a long time. I couldn't have told you the number of years, but knew it was for a long time.

When you were an engineer with the Corps of Engineers or at a Military Base (in those days, at least) your annual training week is almost always either Huntsville AL or Vicksburg MS. The lucky few got scuba training in Key West, but then they had to dive the muddy mess in the Mississippi to evaluate underwater structures - where visibility and the fun factor are both approximately zero.

It's not personal Dandy, but I had to cut off somewhere...I cut it at the 300+ posters in this thread...

Apparently I need to step my game up. I usually post a lot during the week days and then I rarely post on the weekends. I spend most of my weekends hanging with my friend Al Cohol so I don't look at CF. I guess I need to find time for both on the weekends. Priorities, right?

It's hard as a Corps of Engineer guy to decide which sucks more, Huntsville or Vicksburg. The heat. The humidity. The crappy food. All of the Confederates still running around. The ****** hotels. I really hate Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.

Made the mistake of having this conversation with someone in our division office in Vicksburg some years ago:

Division guy: Since Iowa State is playing in the Independence Bowl will you be coming down to Shreveport?
Me: Hell no, if Louisiana is the ***-hole of the USA than Shreveport is the ***-hole of
Louisiana.
Division guy: Shreveport is my hometown.

Ooops. :wideeyed:

Where did you find that link? I've been looking for that forever

You have to go into the actual sub forum, in this case, off-topic (hover over the "Forums" button on the top bar, then go to the actual sub-forum):

http://cyclonefanatic.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=20

Then, click on the number next to "replies" on the right side of the thread you're looking for.

I can't take credit, someone else told me, I think earlier in this thread when someone was complaining about how it was all just a few of us.

On my microwave I can just hit 1,2,3... and it will go for that many minutes. One button push. If I have to do 1:30 I push 1 and then the +30 button.

Our microwave at home has this as well. I use it so much that I get annoyed when I have to use a microwave that doesn't have that feature.

Why do people continually come to me for network issues instead of actually going to the network team?

What's worse is the offshore network people keep asking me for network diagrams and want me to test new network connections. I keep telling them I am not the network team yet the next day they are back again insisting they need to me test all these network connections. One time I suggested that they work with the network resources and they asked me who to contact. I said aren't you the network team and shouldn't you know?

Grant went on a bender cause he got so bored waiting on Vicksburg.

Grant also lived in my county. Galena thinks they are hot **** because he lived there before he was famous.

lol

why, if a job called for extensive experience with Excel and attention to detail/organizational skills..............do you have neither?

(not YOU, you, obviously)
I'm lucky if I can get those stupid boxes in Excel to stop reformatting everything I put in there.
