DH passes out when he gets blood drawn. (apparently it's actually a manly response, or so he said when he linked some caveman article). I haven't done that (though I did after a vaccine one time). I just hate the feeling. And thinking about blood being sucked out? Nope nope nope nope nope.

I've never done yoga, but I think pilates is pretty similar. I didn't mind that at all. I could see that if you have no flexibility, it would be just painful.

They tried to take my blood. It got weird when they shut the room door and tried to hold my arm down. It was a pretty amazing fight or flight response. They didn't get the blood. I haven't had a blood test this century. Stupid, but it's a real issue.

Doc prescribed some weapons grade anti-anxiety meds to take next time, but I'm still not rushing to play with needles again

Try reading about meditative running. I've found no better way to beat stress after a rough day.

There is a runner's high too, but I do have to concentrate in order to feel it. Reminds me of the after effect of a nice roll with the lady friend.

All that said....it's still a very love/hate relationship with running.

....and how can they say running in the heat doesn't burn more calories???

Sex. Sex is a better way to beat stress after a rough day.

Last time they tried to take my blood there were almost punches thrown. I have a pretty bad needle phobia.

The one workout I totally don't understand is yoga. It's painful and not relaxing at all. Yoga actually makes me angry.

You would have not appreciated my first day of RAGBRAI two weeks ago. I dehydrated, primarily due to my doctor doubling a med two weeks before that. Normally , I have no problem with IVs. Six attempts before they got a good one, and everyone of them hurt like hell.

Like...they stick him and he gets the vapors and passes out? That's not manly, don't care what article he links.

It's funny that I'm the one arguing with this, I've given blood 4 times, fainted 3. But it's not a reaction to the needle thing, it's after the fact when I go to stand up or am off eating my cookies. My only explanation is that I have low blood pressure naturally (so much so that nurses who take it usually say "wow, you're relaxed"), so IDK if taking the pint out drops it too far...it's just annoying because I would love to be a blood donor, and it's easy because we have drives at work regularly, but I can't. The only time I didn't was once when I was really heavy (for me), but every other time I have.

I'm going to have to agree with 00 on this one. I don't see how passing out from giving blood is manly at all, I don't care how many articles you have. That's like saying watching Real Housewives of New Jeresey is manly because it has a bunch of women on the show that you're looking at.

he said it's like the feeling of the blood going out or something.

this, some kind of primitive vasovagal response.

I think you mean primitive VAGINAL response. Because it's totally girly.

And I feel giving blood doesn't relate there. Most of the article talked about seeing blood from some sort of trauma, where the reaction is due to the trauma causing the blood moreso than the seeing of the blood itself.

It's cute that he still tries to come up with excuses about how what he does that isn't manly is actually manly. You two are married, I don't think he would have to go to that effort anymore.
