Cowgirl, Have you looked at Jennair stoves the vent is right on the cooktop then you can put your microwave above the stove.

what kinda windows you got in your baby making room?

He asked about a transome??? window above the bed area. But that would be to the north, DH thinks no. Cause we'd have windows on the south wall

I have not, but I welcome your input into my house stranger. For seriousness, who are you and when did you get to this thread?

It's a little bit like reader comments when a less frequent poster pops in, haha.

wow, jennair has a fancypants website. I need a vent hood 400cfm or less. Otherwise our builder says we need a bigger fresh air vent so our house doesn't suck lids off of pots.

I might be missing some parts, but that's what he said.

I would never be good at house building. I am terrible at making decisions like this. Who cares what the hinge color is?

Right? I never thought I would care eitehr. But when someones says I need to make the decision, all of a sudden I feel like there is an angels singing cheesecake pouring down from heaven correct choice and a stuck with chocolate cake and whipped topping forever wrong choice.

Hinge color: I'm a fan of brushed nickel, but I'm guessing that's on it's way 'out' by now...totally no idea or care, but it was 'in' 5-10 years ago, so it's prolly done it's thing and moved on.

Windows: We have one large window which is 2 up/down sliders right next to each other. Probably 3' tall by 5' wide? A true transom window is a window above something else, like a door or another window...but then I don't really understand your comment, so maybe he's talking just putting in a short/wide window set up high for additional light?

Something like this:

We had those in our old house living room, and they looked nice and did bring in a decent amount of light (although ours were on a south wall), but no one would ever see in them. We actually had a pattern of 3 small squares placed close together on each side of the room.

yes, he talked about one like that above where the bed would be, then two normal ones in like nightstand areas, none on the east (door to rest of house) or south (door to bathroom) and then the west wall would be mostly windows.

my comment was about whether or not we should completely skip the transom window and just do the nightstand type windows on that wall.

brushed nickel is out? What is in then? I like brushed nickel. Sounds like chrome is standard, but I'm not a huge fan of the shininess.

I think she's getting there. The late lasagna is probably playing a part in it too.

we aren't eating the lasagna. It's for DH's brother and wife who had a baby last week.

I wish we were though, I love lasagna. We make ours with italian sausage and some cream cheese in it. It's fab. Probably the best "meal" meal that I make. Except I made DH make it. Hey, I said we should go in two weeks, he wanted to go this week. So I got the gifts, he had to make the food.
