We have had all kinds of hummingbird traffic at our nectar feeder the last few weeks. They are pretty social, they like to hover in front of the windows and look at us before landing on the feeder. Yesterday the vixen was refilling it, and a female kept hovering by the deck, even waiting close by while she hung it up.

Has anyone had experience with getting these little guys to land near or on you? I think that would be pretty awesome.
How often do you refill it? Do you refill because it is empty or to freshen it. We have one but not much traffic. Sometimes they will come and take a look and fly away. That is when I think I need to refresh the sugar water...

The vixen will generally refill every three weeks or so. She's concerned it goes bad. It's rarely empty.....I keep telling her to fill it halfway, but I guess I don't know what I'm talking about.

There won't be fall colors in September. For stroller friendly outdoor stuff, the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes would be good. Specifically Bde Maka Ska (formerly Lake Calhoun). It has a few beaches and a couple of playgrounds. There will be a lot of people there.

Minnehaha Park has the Falls and, if you go a couple hundred yards down from the falls, the creek gets pretty shallow so it's great for wading. At least it has been in the past. There's been so much rain this year I'm not sure anymore.

Any of the regional parks will have good walking trails. A few examples would be Elm Creek near me (it also has a man made swimming pond surrounded by sand that's immaculate), Theodore Wirth near Boxster, and Highland Park in Bloomington. Many of the regional parks will have the swimming ponds. Nevermind, it looks like they close on Labor Day.

The area near the Stone Arch Bridge is really nice for walking.

Stillwater is a really cool town to walk around in.

If you let us know what area you'll be in, we could probably narrow it down a bit.

I think it would be west side

Last week, I was in LA for training. I'd never been to LA. I guess it was mostly what I was expecting. It had really nice parts, really bad parts, really weird parts and terrible traffic. There were a lot more homeless than I was expecting and the tents on the sidewalks were something I'm not used to.

Was a few years back but in the downtown area that kinda took me back some. Tents and cardboard shelters all over the place on the sidewalks.

Hey. I've been to one game watch each of the last two years. The Texas one last year may not count since that wasn't really televised and there were about a million people there.

I might not be hosting anymore. Having an alumni organizational meeting this evening. Not sure my heart is in for another year. Joanna is no longer a waitress at Darby's, Park Tavern sucks hugely as a locale and @cyrocksmypants ain't here anymore. Yeah, not feeling the love for gamewatches this morning.

Good, that's where the cool people live.

If the weather is nice a walleye sammich lakeside in Excelsior is good. Not sure about taking a one year old on the historic steamboat Minnehaha for a short fall cruise from Excelsior but that is one cool old boat. Plus it's ISU colors.

If it's not cruising it's docked near Maynards, my fav lakeside venue. Keeping thinking I should sponsor an alumni fall cruise but with my weather curse I am pretty sure it would rain if not storm.

If you set up an alumni cruise don't ask the Minnesota Vikings for any tips.

What about the cute red head that started coming to game watches after I left?

Depending upon where you are on the west side, the chain of lakes could be convenient.

If you're closer to Bloomington, Hyland Park Reserve would be close. If near Maple Grove, Elm Creek park Reserve would be close. If you're near Plymouth, Baker Park Reserve is close. If you're near St. Louis Park, the chain of lakes and Wirth Park are close. If you're staying with Boxster, give him a heads up to babyproof his house.

Good to know! And yes, Boxster, please clear away any mulch and phone cords. Much appreciated!

Phone cords? None of dat stuff anymore but speaker and internet wires might be an issue. Does TN like rock or cypress mulch?

I do have a vintage play phone. No wires attached. :)

FIL texted my BILs and I asking if we want to come over at 11 on Sunday and watch movies all day. Why yes I want to sit inside and watch movies when it is nice out. Thankfully MrsWx is working so I can't anyway.

DND. Wind was gusting to 32 mph which kinda sucked. Think my splitting headache after an hour or so biking was dehydration, maybe too much drinking yesterday plus heat plus wind.

As I biked under Lake Street to Bde Maka Ska I saw a canoe that had just capsized and swamped. Two adults and two kids and the one little guy was TOTALLY FREAKING out. Glad they all had lifejackets on or it might have freaked me out to. The canoe sank. They were close to shore and some peeps were canoeing over to help. The canoe rental place was less than 100 yards away and the HS kids working it were totally oblivious to what was happening.

Anaconda is playing on one of the EPIX channels. Jennifer Lopez's face is almost an entirely different shape than it is today.
