I haven't been around since the 12th. Have I missed anything really interesting?

Dealing with teething and teething issues this week. Poor kiddo. I have no idea what to get her for her 2nd birthday, but am making progress on dates for a family get together.

Yes, but it wasn't filmed there. And trust me, Cocoa Beach did NOT look like they showed it. :)

We moved there from the Seattle area, and returned to Washington in December 1968. Most people were "transplants" from Kansas, Washington & several New England states.

Another show that came out while we were down there was "Here Come The Brides", which was loosely based on the story of Asa Mercer bringing "feminine comfort" to his loggers & fishermen. Only they weren't brides, they were hookers. :) Anyhoo, the folks from the east coast would ask us if that's what Seattle really looks like. Yeah, we had dirt roads and people riding horses from Seattle to Olympia in one day. So many from the east coast thought the left coast was completely undeveloped. :)
I enjoyed our visit to Cocoa Beach a few years ago. It had a cool, funky, sorta bohemian vibe too it. Not sure if that is what it was like during the space race.

I think all of us can understand the regional misconceptions. Being from Iowa, we have all probably been asked if we are farmers.

Teething's fun isn't it? On the bad days, it seemed like we went through a gallon of ibuprofen a day (Yes. Drugging up the kids. I'll gladly accept this nomination for parent of the year).

Yeah, I looked at the Tylenol today and noticed it's time for a new bottle. We should have enough for tonight....I think. Generally I can get by with only two doses, but I think these teeth hurt worse. At least she's eating a lot.

So we are going out to dinner tonight and I was perusing the restaurant menu and came to the beer list. I am having a tough time deciding if I should order Surly Furious or Fulton's Sweet Child of Vine. Do I order the Furious because I like it better or do I order the Sweet Child of Vine because it is more fun to say (and still quite tasty)?

Also, we are going to dinner at The Loop at The West End. It is evidently close to Boxster's house so I will be sure to sing the ISU fight song loud enough that he can hear. It will be perfectly in tune.

We used to put a little bit of benzocaine (or some OTC derivative) gel on a finger, and rub the gum with it. Only when they were awake and not heading for naptime or bedtime, though. It helped dull the pain. I think they call it orajel or anbesol now, and I believe it comes in kid friendly concentrations.

Before or after the beer consumption?

think someone at work lost a baby fairly far in. Supposed to be due in Nov, saw them earlier this summer starting to show and there's no way they are 6 months right now.

In eye doctor office, wondering why the 5 year old girl is trying to have a conversation with me...then realize....because I'm not nose in fone ignoring her like her mom.

went to Target a couple weeks ago and a little boy about that age started talking to me in the parking lot (his mom was getting out of the car yet) telling me all about how he thought my purse was pretty, how hot it was out, that his dad was coming to visit from Guatemala and it's hotter there.

It was pretty cute, not gonna lie. Think mom was trying to get him to hush, but he wasn't bothering me.

Also sad. I sometimes get weird looks for talking to kids though. I am just being friendly and try to talk with the parent too, but there isn't a reason to ignore them.

If they talk to me, I talk to them. PapaLew...man, he'll talk to kids before he'll talk to their parents. He's very good at getting shy or cranky ones to respond. He knows how to get down to their level, I guess. :)
