Getting an idea of what hotels to keep an eye on if we go up to Oshkosh. It is always amazing to see Super 8's and what not charging $250+/night.

Looks like we will just stay on the east side of Madison and drive up.

we use the Holiday Inn a lot for work on that side. Not me personally, but work. My mom has stayed at the Cambria there and liked it. Say hi to DH if you do. Right next to his office.

The one that popped up was the Grandstay at $86. It was that or a $120 best Western or something like that in Beaver Dam. Trying 6o decide if the extra drive time up and back from Madison is worth saving the money.

yeah you could always go further like Beaver Dam, Waupan, or Fond du Lac. You going to the kid's clothing place?

No. It is just funny to see hotels in a town in Wisconsin go from normal prices to like Hawaii.

This winter I had an over night in Maui. I was going to be working until about 2 am and going back in the next day at 7am, so about 4 hours of sleep. Cheapest hotel room was almost 500 bucks (there was a PGA tournament going on there the same week). As discussed here before, the company would have paid, but my expenses play a part in my bonus. I just pulled into a Sports Authority parking lot and slept in my rental.

We stayed at grandstay in Ames for the movie night. I was kind of skeptical since it's listed as an 'extended stay suites' place, and it was cheap, but it looked okay, and with the movie night, it would be crash, get up, leave. It was more than acceptable. I mean, I won't say it was 'nice', because it wasn't fancy, but it was cleaner than some 'nice' hotels I've been in, and the breakfast was good enough to get us going.

That is pretty much what we are looking for. Drive up Friday after work leave around 7 Saturday morning. Hopefully back to the hotel around midnight and leave when we get going on Sunday.
