Needing some advice. Is Wisconsin Dells a good getaway? I've never gone, but I need somewhere to go for a long weekend and the website makes it look like there is a lot to do. Daughter is seven, almost 8.

Me golfing tomorrow.

You look pretty good in a golf skirt.

We're going at the end of August with a bunch of families. If you're waiting until after that I can give you some advice. However, we are staying at Wilderness which seems to have several waterparks so we may not even leave the resort.

I was thinking of leaving Thursday and getting up there this weekend. My option B is Colorado again, but we just went out there a couple years ago. I was looking for somewhere different.

We've done a couple christmas get togethers with my wife's family, it's kind of in-between us in IC, her sister in the twin cities, and her other sister's in laws in Osh Kosh. my kids (4 and 2) had fun, as did their cousins (13 and 11?). We stayed at a place that had passes to one waterpark and then Kalahari's games and stuff. Put it this way...kiddos had fun in December, I'm guessing it'll be fun in July.

It's fun at that age, I think. I was older but my siblings would have been around that and they enjoyed it.

We were there about 10 years ago also. You won't run out of stuff to do over a long weekend.

Wisconsin Dells is probably good for that age and for relaxing. Not sure how far you are from Mount Rushmore or ever been there before, if it would farther than Colorado for you.

I'm thinking I could hit the Dells in about 8 hours, Rushmore in about 10-11, Denver in about 8, Branson in 3.5

We've gone to Branson and Denver before and had fun. If I did Branson again, I'd know what to avoid.

My wife and I each went to Rushmore when we were kids, but it's probably been 30 years ago. I'm leaning towards either Rushmore or the Dells.

I think an 8 year old will like the waterpark over the monument. Rushmore might be a good one for a bit older. Though it depends on the kid I suppose! Teenage me would have loved to see Rushmore. My siblings? Not so much.

Devil's Tower is only a little ways past Rushmore...just over the border in Wyoming. If she likes hiking, that's a great walk around the bottom of the tower.

There are lots of nature type opportunities around there, which I think is why my all boys crowd preferred it to the Dells, which they thought was kind of kitschy. Not really sure what a girl this age would think of it. My boys had fun at the Dells but kind of thought you could find water parks and mini golf lots of places.
