I was getting ready to leave for work when that storm was just hitting, so I turned around, called in to say I'd be an hour late. I'm glad I did because my neighborhood had tree branches down everywhere.

Random: As I get older, I'm getting more and more uncomfortable with knowing the appropriate time to leave someone's house that we get invited over to.

When I was younger and didn't have kids, people would just stay at each other's houses until someone did something stupid, passed out, or decided to go get something to eat at IHOP at 2AM. Anymore, with kids involved, I find myself thinking "It's been about 3 hours. They might need to get their kids a nap, bath, fed, etc and/or just spend time with their own family."

I never want to be the 'overstays their welcome guy'

Boxster, Martin's Cycle and Fitness in Albert Lea. 70 bucks for a complete go thru Bike looked good and rode great when I got it back. If it's the front gears it's the two little set screws where the cable runs the derailler. He reset mine Sat. we moved it so it wasn't going so far left. That made it not make as big of jump when dropping to that bottom gear. Does Velo know how to do this kind of stuff?

Everyone who cooked ribs they looked really good.

Rev, If you don't mind me asking where did Erik go? Hope Z sleeps well for you tonite.

He's out at different historical societies in different cities. Mostly MA and two places in RI, I think. He is looking at authors' diaries and letters as well as trying to find specific articles in antebellum newspapers and magazines. There were juvenile abolitionist so societies and it would be nice to find something like a list or number of children that joined. He's looking for other stuff as well. :)

I'll go over the whole weekend once I catch up. :)

Friday afternoon, I was sitting at the table with my daughter. I hear the garage door go up and my wife pull in. A minute later I hear some weird scream. 30 second later, my phone rings. It's my wife. I'm like, WTF.

"uh, hello."
"There's a snake."
stifled laugh with an eye roll by me "Is it alive?"
"It's big"
"So what d.."
"Just get out here!!"

Here's what I see:

I'm standing at the door looking at my wife (who's in the driveway and not very amused)

"Do you want me to throw you a rake so you can get rid of it?"

<angry glare>

Even though I laughed, I would have done something similar.

Good morning! ;)

Anyone go to the Mumford show in waverly?? I there and saw some EPIC stuff... Both in the crowd and stage

One thing I always loved about summers in the Hill Country - it was plenty hot during the day, but the lack of humidity meant that sitting in the shade under a live oak or a black walnut gave some measure of relief from the heat. No A/C in the house, but fans kept things bearable. And at night, everything cools down...no icky-sticky all night like Iowa. :)

As I type this I'm hearing rumbles...looks like the next wave is approaching us. First one was pretty meh.

Decided Friday that if munchkin had a good nap and was in a good mood we would try to spend the night at grandma and grandpas. Didn't bring the pack N play, so I had to get her to sleep in a different manner than I would if she was in the crib. Overall sleep was pretty good.

Saturday morning was great to go to the zoo. There was a cool breeze for most of the time we were there and the humidity/heat was starting to feel bad about the time we were ready to leave. Got home after lunch and the grandparents said they would oversee her nap so I could exercise. I got 2 elliptical miles in and 100 abs. I would have tried to run again, but this old guy was there and was getting this really creepy vibe from him. So I left as fast as I could. The rest of Saturday went fairly well. She slept okay.

Sunday she didn't want to nap, so we spent an hour running around the library. I tried to get her to go to bed around 6 due to no nap, but she wouldn't have any of it. Thankfully, dad called soon after I gave up. So after talking to him for a bit we sang and tried to go to bed again. Then she slept through the night. It was nice.

Vacuum bagging the rest of the ribs from last night, so I throw on some Amazon Prime music rather than a podcast since I'll only be half listening. Notice the station called "Christian Hip-Hop"....ah, what the hey...let's see what's here...yeah, it's weird. Not bad, but just weird.
Was it Gospel Gangstas?

Daycare did "All about my dad" sheets for fathers' day, kiddos gave them to me Sunday morning. Some highlights:

My dad is ____ years old: 2 YO said 3, 4 YO said 37 (thanks boys, both made me younger)
My dad weighs _____ pounds: 2 YO, 1 lb. 4 YO: 5 LBS...again, I guess thanks?
My daddy's job is____: 4 YO: Fixing machines, 2 YO: Playing with machines....I guess both are somewhat accurate
My dad likes to do this in his free time: 4 YO: Play with me  2 YO: Go to work again  (guess I need to stop working Sundays)...I guess I should be happy one of them didn't say "Drink beer"
My daddy is really good at: 4 YO: Drawing. 2 YO: Working with machines
My favorite meal my dad makes is: 4 YO: Pizza. 2 YO: Noodles (so predictable. He asks for 'clean' noodles (no visible seasoning) for EVERY meal).
My dad always says: Both: I love you
The last two were "I love my dad because" and "My dad loves me because"

2 YO said "he gives me hugs" and "I give him hugs"...can you tell that his love language is physical touch? No, not at all, right?

4 YO said "He's funny" and "I'm funny"...not sure about that one, I was thinking his language was quality time, but maybe words of encouragement?

Artists are what they thought they were. People need choices and so do dogs. Cats are fine. They just need a balcony.
