You go up to the stop and never actually stop, instead you roll through and never make eye contact with the other drivers. This is what is taught in Iowa driver's ed. As a Chicagoan I cringe at Iowa drivers.I'm now convinced that every one in Cedar Falls missed the day in drivers ed that taught four way stops.

I get the feeling you were the girl in this scenario. You showed weakness...Forgot the part where you avoid looking at the girl that had to slam on her brakes because you pull out when she's halfway through the intersection.
I used to call those rolling non-stops "California stops". Then I moved to California. They call them "Hollywood stops" in San Francisco. Kinda wonder what they call them in Hollywood, you know?

I have a feeling this will do interesting things to my CF rep...

Eh, Chicagoans have no room to talk when it comes to bad drivers. You go up to the stop and never actually stop, instead you roll through and never make eye contact with the other drivers. This is what is taught in Iowa driver's ed. As a Chicagoan I cringe at Iowa drivers.

Here in podunk southern Iowa, we all come to a complete halt, do the 12 o'clock steering wheel wave, stare at each other awhile, and have a number of starts and stops deciding who is going to go first. Kind of a party.
^KC, I'm tall (5'9" I think is tall for an old lady?) and I had this problem with weeds at an intersection the other day in town. I think it was city owned property, if it was private the city would be hounding the owner to mow or fine them for it.![]()
We're coming up on the time of year that is more nervewracking to me than snow & ice. Tall corn season. On my route to work I've got a guy that takes his corn as close to the edge as is legal, and doesn't do much about the tall grass in the ditches. From the gravel road that runs between his fields, I have to turn onto a county road that is posted at 55mph. Of course, 55 is just a suggestion out there in the "wilds". Short people like me sometimes can't help pizzing off people like Velo...because WE CAN'T SEE WHAT'S COMING UNLESS WE STICK OUR NOSES OUT A WEE BIT.

sort of...
I actually think Chicago drivers are pretty good. They tend to be decisive, efficient and even relatively considerate (not so much at sporting events).Eh, Chicagoans have no room to talk when it comes to bad drivers.
