Although I say pay someone to do your car stuff it's not like I never did car stuff. Used to do the basics on the old Nova and it was something I did with my dad. My dad was not much of a mechanic but liked doing this with me. With a small warehouse full of oil I usually got the free oil deal! Box in the trunk had oil, anti-freeze, spare thermostat, extra radiator hoses because god knows you can't drive from Manchester to Ames without all of the just in case stuff!

The old Nova had a straight six in an engine bay built for a V-8. No air conditioning. No power steering. No power brakes. Nothing but the engine running down the middle and open space on both sides. Pretty much stopped working on cars when I popped open the hood on my new '88 Honda Accord and the only thing I could recognize was the oil stick. What the hell is all of this stuff and how the hell did they cram it into this small space!

Today I can't even see the engine bay on the enclosed mid-engine Boxster.

Yup...PapaLew is mostly out of the shade-tree mechanics himself. Too many hard-to-reach and/or computerized parts. :)

No neighbor difficulties?

Nope everything went well!

This little kid lives behind our house on a little hill so can witness everything that goes on all the time in our yard. He was having a blast mimicking some of the dance moves some girls were doing on the back deck.

I'm sure he had a few question for his parents about what was going on

Yeah, and it's great knowledge to have, don't get me wrong. I know HOW to do basics with a car, like chance oil, change a flat, etc. I just choose to pay someone to do it. In my own personal opinion, my time is more valuable to me doing something else than the cost of the oil change.

Yeah, again, I don't look down on people who don't do it themselves, it's just something I enjoy doing, and keeps me a little more connected to my vehicles than get in, turn on, fill with gas when needed. But, then, I'm kind of a car guy...although not a meat-head or douchebro car guy who see them as an extensions of their weenises. Kind of like a motorcycle guy who hates harley riders and organ donors on their liter bikes.

That's a great pic. Sounds like it was fun but you're still not getting invited to the over 30 party.

Time for a workout brag (that I'm quite proud of): Ran my second half marathon and beat the 2 hour mark. Not bad for someone who still weighs 225-230 lbs.

You can now return to your regularly scheduled RT programming.

Why do videos like on CNN.com for instance, run a perfect video for an advertisement first, then the real video afterward does not load sometimes or the video stutters and then locks up? I watched an ad with no reward. I hate that!

it's pouring.

Guess who got to take a mid day bath running out to shut their car windows?

And guess whose car inside also got a bath?

Sad fact of life on campus...if you leave your windows open, your parking hangtag gets stolen. Nothing else...just the dang parking permit. Worth its weight in gold, I suppose...except they are numbered, and you have to provide the parking office with your license plate #, make, model & color of car. I'm guessing people bank on the idea that the parking patrols don't look all that closely at the numbers.

I totally forgot it was going to rain today. I crack them so it doesn't get as hot inside. When rain goes sideways though, it makes it in. Need to go out when it stops and try to dry some of it out. Suppose there's nothing good people would want to steal out of mine!
