Random Thoughts IV

Pregnancy never affected the old #2 in any way for me. However, sneezing has been iffy ever since the nine pound second baby for the #1. That was fine after the first baby, the seven pounder. Nine pounds of baby, and everything that comes with it, did a number on my bladder.

So my difficult customer scenario was basically this:

Project was behind schedule because customer diverted resources to other projects on their side. Basically they cussed me out for 5 minutes because they spent whatever amount of money and the project was behind, yet it was their fault. I had to eloquently say that it was their fault without sounding like an *** hole. Then to get it on schedule we would have to provide extra resources (employees/coders/whatever) on our end but it would cost them money since they didn't follow the agreed statement of work.

I did pretty well they said after the scenario was over but I could've showed more empathy.

It's funny, everybody always talks about how important empathy is in business, but when it comes down to making actual big time financial decisions, it's the worst thing to have.

I can see if they thought 2015 needed to have a better tone of voice or something like or acknowledging their frustration (even though it's their own fault). Friendly but firm is usually good in those situations. "I understand you are frustrated, blah blah, because x was not completed by y date, we will need to add z resources to complete it as scheduled. That would be an additional expense. Alternatively, we can extend the completion date by x weeks.

Then you get off the phone and vent to your coworker who also dealt with an angry call from them.

That's what I tend to do at least.

Totally missing it, pants...they said he could have SHOWED more empathy...not had more empathy. Two totally different things.

Meaning, he should show them empathy, and pat them on the shoulder (in an appropriate way, nothing pervy or anything) while still telling them how it's gonna cost more. In other words, as he hands them the new bill, he says things like "Yes, it's unfortunate that sometimes due to uncontrollable circumstances that sometimes a situation dictates a change in the original scope of the project and cost estimates" instead of "Sorry, pal, you effed up, here's your new bill".

They aren't talking about having REAL and ACTUAL empathy, they are talking about APPEARING to have empathy.

I gotta keep hope. I prefer to believe Arby's did it to her and not Bawbie's swimmers.
Oh my. I guarantee it wasn't Arby's

My son was 10lbs 10oz, so yeah, he caused some issues.

i should add there wasn't specific Bkylyn'ing, just a number of other issues.

Been away getting wet* playing in a fundraiser golf outing all afternoon and early evening. What's this thread you are all talking about? Something I need to find and check out?

* Add this golf round to the other one earlier this summer and my one bike ride to the arrive home soaked list.

while I appreciate the frequent light showers the rain is giving the new seeding, I was hoping we could get the sprinklers up tonight instead of tomorrow when it's *** balls hot and humid.

BKLYNclone pooped his pants after trusting a fart he shouldn't have, and basically live posted the aftermath (including waiting for the bathroom wondering what the damage would be, and then just going home and his family laughing at him). It's not highbrow humor, but if you find that sort of thing amusing...I will say, seeing it live really added to the entertainment value for me at the time, so I don't know if it'd be quite AS funny after the fact, but some people are still enjoying my post (where I pretended to be a co-worker of his), since I'm still getting action on thumbs-ups. Like 46 now. (but if you do read it, I'll state up front that my post will probably be anti-climatic since I'm talking about it here..I'm more amazed that it got that much action.)

We should probably have an unofficial poll about who you rather have as your supervisor; Pants or 00?

Oh your poor wife. After my 9 lb, 13 oz 24 in. long behemoth, the doctor said, you know, I think you could have delivered an even bigger one.:twitcy: I wished I could have forced a bowling ball out his Brooklyn hole at the time. My mom had huge babies but she was diabetic.
