Random Thoughts IV

All this bike talk reminds me I need to get a new inner tube so I can get back to riding.

That's exactly what I was thinking with all the water weight suggestions. I didn't even know dudes could get water weight.
everyone can gain and lose water weight. I actually had some chips and queso last night as well and swore at the scale this morning because of it

Bike app says I burned 1400 calories riding 27 miles based on the road grade, speed and my height/weight so I am guessing a walleye sammich and a beer are good to go. I like riding the city trails, it's pretty scenic and lots of good people watching. Was surprised at the number of folks on the trails Thursday afternoon.

Trail riding, also a kind of biking I could get behind. When I ride bike on the road other than in our neighborhood, I can't stop thinking "I am now that ***hole that I usually hate, riding the shoulder on a state highway"

I just don't see the point of weighing in daily because of the whole water weight thing. I maybe weigh myself twice a month. I was shocked that the strep throat took me down 12 pounds and that was on the doctor's scale so it was probably more than that measurement before strep on my home scale.

Because I'm vain. Have you not figured that out yet, Carvers?!

You officially registered or do you bandit ride?

I register. When you look at how much they are putting together - Traffic control, support, organization, etc. - I feel like I need to do a little bit to pay for it.

Although Mrs. Velo got an email saying she was in and I didn't so I'm not sure if I am registered or not. If not, I guess I will go bandit.

I was just trying to figure it out and I think my first RAGBRAI was in 1995. I missed half of the next one because of a new job and missed two years after that entirely because of another new job. Other than that I have been on every one since. I did miss a couple of days two years ago because Mrs. Velo decided to try to eat some pavement. I got her to the doctor and dentist and then got back for the end of the ride. Just call me Mr. Compassion.

I usually weigh in every morning when I wake up and that is way too much. Pointless to weigh in a couple of times a day as your weight fluctuates with what you are eating.

I woke up the lowest weight I've ever seen on the scale. 50 pounds lost since junior year of high school.

The point of weighing in daily is because it will change how you make decisions that day in terms of food.

Uh, no. Actually seems a little insecure, although I guess my incredibly vain bro-in-law does weigh himself every day. He also does things like run four miles so he can justify going to a restaurant and eat a nacho platter for dinner that is designed to feed a party of 8 or something. And then post his Map My Run crap and a picture of the nachos all over social media.

I feel like how my clothes fit tells me a lot more than what I weigh. I may look better and be in better shape when I actually weigh a little more, and fit into a smaller size because I have more muscle. After the strep throat, I had pointy elbows.

I think Carvers just called me insecure.

I think maybe you are a bit? At least about some things? But confident in your wit and charm.

Yep...fits

I don't even own a bathroom scale. I can probably guess my weigh with a pound or two. I weigh myself just for the hell of it when at Lifetime but haven't been in for a while. It's da summer of da bike, not the summer of da weights and indoor bike.

I don't get the whole scale thing. Look at yourself in the mirror. If you look like you are too fat and out of shape you are probably too fat and out of shape. If what looks back at you doesn't look bad than you are good to go. Okay, if what is looking back is too fat than you can use the scale to measure progress in becoming unfat, I guess.

Spoken like a poet.
