left this for a full day lots catch up on. Loved the flashback with the cap guns.

So far with My fitbit I know that a 6 hour workday nets me about 10,000 steps or 4.5 miles. This thing also is able to track your sleep at night.

I put a bunch of rolls through my old cap gun back in the day! I'd venture to guess most kids these days have no idea what they are.

and maybe I'm naive, but I don't think my in-laws do this out of a bad place. I think they truly believe going .....above and beyond........is what we want. I think DH's brothers are more ok with it so we are kind of the odd ones out. They like giving and doing things for people which is great. But sometimes doing more than what someone asked for isn't better. More is not always better.

My mom had this crazy idea that we all kept track of what they gave us and would be upset if we thought someone was being favored. She would go to great pains to spend as close as possible to the same amount of money on us at Christmas. She also wanted everyone to have the same number of gifts to open. When she was unable to shop herself, she would send my sister and I out to buy for all of the siblings with these instructions to be within a few dollars on everyone. We would tell our brothers about it and everyone would just laugh and tell us to avoid the hassle and fib to Mom. It wasn't that easy though because she wanted the receipts to pay us back. We all knew darn well that Mom loved us all with all her heart, gifts or no gifts.

I wonder if since DH's brothers have accepted such gifts, they don't want DH to feel they are playing favorites and shorting him?

That could very well be a part of it. My mom and her parents are very much that way. I don't remember when they started to tell us that, but it's been mentioned many times over the years.

Dealing with parents as they are now grandparents is also similar. I have two swimsuits with out asking for any and other odds and ends. Thankfully, for the most part, they ask about things first or preferences.

Hopefully it is just a "we want to help and we want to make you happy" thought instead of a hidden agenda.

So he was my age?

You sounded like such a mom there, Carvers.

I'm guessing somewhere around 30. I tried not to look too close, he kind of reeked of vomit, cigs, and what smelled like Mad Dog 20/20, but I don't know if they even still make that. He was leaving with a large bottle of something and a disc golf disc.:twitcy:
