Up late tonight wrapping presents. Sense a theme?![]()
Siri must have been digging into the sordid history of cabin boys since the jimlad gets it's name from Jim Hawkins of Treasure Island.
I honestly can't remember the first cassette I bought. I stole and dubbed a lot of my brothers tapes as well.
I think the first CD I bought was Def Leppard - Hysteria. They were my first favorite band thanks to my older brother. I bought the Waynes World Soundtrack shortly after and then Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream.
I'm gonna screen shot this, pretend to take her picture, then show this to her. I'll let you know how it goes.
And the book be the origin of:
"Fifteen men on the dead man's chest--May have to drop that down onto the Kindle and do a reread. Inner sloth is suggesting reading rather than working on productive stuff today.
...Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!
Drink and the devil had done for the rest--
...Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!"
This one....I like this one....(BTW, IIRC what you said your age is, I'm also 12 years older than you)
That inner sloth of yours has been particularly demanding lately...
Music memories:
First purchase: Chipmunk Rock on vinyl before vinyl was 'retro-cool'.
Having to return Huey Lewis and the News "Sports" cassette when my mom heard "I Want a New Drug" despite our insistence that if she really listened, it was anti-drugs, talking about all the side affects of drugs.
Of course, that quickly led to dubbing and learning to hide stuff, and I wore the **** out of Run DMC's "Raising Hell" dubbed tape, and NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" that were dubbed from a friends' older brother. I later bought both.
First CD that I bought was Aerosmith's "Get a Grip" album (and really, out of all the Aerosmith albums to buy as a first, that turd?...but it was just released.
And for the record, I bought 45's first - I think my first purchase was "Sealed With A Kiss" by Brian Hyland. My first album was "Meet the Monkees". Still have it, as a matter of fact.
I think she said class of 06, which would make her around a year younger than me, and you're not 11 years older than me.

I can tell you what the b-side song is on the 45 Satisfaction by the Stones.
55 should probably know that there are known sexagenarians posting here.
Went for a run late last night and came across someone that was trying to get into their car. I asked if they needed help. The dude spun around with this startled expression and bolted. I have this sneaking suspicion that he was trying to break into the car.
The fact that he ran away from me while I was out running obviously means that I didn't look fast enough to catch him.
I feel so body-shamed right now.
