Random thoughts III

Went for a run late last night and came across someone that was trying to get into their car. I asked if they needed help. The dude spun around with this startled expression and bolted. I have this sneaking suspicion that he was trying to break into the car.

The fact that he ran away from me while I was out running obviously means that I didn't look fast enough to catch him.

I feel so body-shamed right now.

This leads me to a question for the RT hivemind.

How much did you guys pay attention to music when you were kids?

My older brother is 8 years older than me so I listened to a lot of his music when I was relatively young. This lead me to become somewhat of a music nerd. My parents weren't big into music but I remember always listening to oldies on my dad's radio so I know a LOT of oldies.

I love music and I know a lot of songs that I don't even like just because it catches in my brain.

I listened to a lot of music when I was a kid...in fact, the stuff I can easiest go back to is 80's music from when I was a kid, and the stuff my parents listened to when I was a kid (hence the 70's-80's country music last night). And yes, I do feel kind of silly listening to 80's music, but hey, guilty pleasure, and I don't listen to music as much anymore. My progression was 80's pop, 90's pop/metal/grunge, 00's hip hop with gangsta rap running thruought in the background...and then pretty much nothing in this decade's music. I also know a lot of oldies, in middle school, I used to listen to the KAT FM 'Cruise' on Friday nights in the summer, all oldies.

'catch in my brain'...yeah, I'm horrible onnat. I have a VERY strong auditory memory (I say I don't have a photographic memory, I have a tape recorder memory), so I learn songs easily, and they also come back into my head easily. I had Everlong in my head last night even though I have not listened to that song in at least 15 years.

Dad bod, you're cool.

I'm more concerned that you failed to recognize that he was breaking into your car.

My parents listened to a lot of music, so I was exposed to it. We always complained back then about having to listen to their music in the car, but I appreciate it now.

I have a sister 3yrs older so I listened to what she listened to when I was in elementary school. I remember walking around the playground and having my Walkman (cassette tape) and listening to Prince. I had no idea what the lyrics meant at that age.

With our oldest, when she was a toddler we listened to kids' CY'S in the van (we loved Laurie Berkner, if you have kids under the age of 5 she is fun). Now we listen to top 40 in the van. The 2yr old was just singing along to Colbie Callet (sp) "Try" and can identify songs within 4 bars of the intro. On right after she said, "Out of Style" before the verse even started. The oldest is very into 80's music, before that she and the 9yr old liked anything Michael Jackson.

We had music on in our house all the time, and every one of us played some kind of an instrument. Music was always big for us growing up. Being the youngest of 8, oldies were pretty much what I grew up on, too. Most of the money I made from bean walking, baling and detassling when I was a kid went to buying music.

I pick up on song lyrics ridiculously quickly. This is great for good songs, but it also means I end up knowing far too many Taylor Swift lyrics after numerous car rides with my daughter.

My siblings are 8 & 12 years older than I am, so I too was exposed to a lot of music early. Lots of 80s hair bands and 90s alternative. The first music I bought for myself was pearl jam.

Little Cooler bit it on the bars at recess yesterday and has a huge goose egg above her left eye. This morning it was pretty purple and it was pushing her eyebrow down. It looks like half of her face is serious all the time.

Our nephew fell off yesterday and fractured both his wrists bracing his fall. Hope yours feels better soon!

What I couldn't help picturing with your description.

Sorry, Cooler...

Yeah, growing up in the 80's lead to a lot of gawd awful hair band purchases. I really wish I could say that Pearl Jam was my first purchase. Ten is still one of my favorite albums to play beginning to end.

My 6 year old has a new band aid every time I see him. I think his new sandals are too big and he keep tripping over them. But they are "cool" so they are all he wants to wear.

I looked into the youtube videos. I don't Z will like her at first. No animation..... silly girl.

While moving a chair yesterday, Z tipped it over and it fell on her. She has a bruise from her nose to her lip. I can tell that her grandma is still stressed about it today. :( It IS a good reminder that I need to check my first aid stuff and probably buy more.

This one....I like this one....(BTW, IIRC what you said your age is, I'm also 12 years older than you)

I honestly can't remember the first cassette I bought. I stole and dubbed a lot of my brothers tapes as well.

I think the first CD I bought was Def Leppard - Hysteria. They were my first favorite band thanks to my older brother. I bought the Waynes World Soundtrack shortly after and then Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream.
