I have been telling my wife that we need to befriend some more families with high school kids.
We have a family friend that was a very popular teacher and coach. He got invited to so many that he put it all into a spreadsheet to figure out when he would go where and what he would eat or drink. Pretty much the every weekend in the month of May he was going to parties all day long.
So close to making this work. Strangely enough, I've purchased roughly 3457 hair ties over the past 3 years and I currently own the one that I put in my daughter's hair this morning. In other words, I'll have zero when I pick her up today.
I put them all in a spreadsheet that I print out for everyone cause the kids kind of strike out on their own. Plus I put a note on my copy how much $ the family forked over for our last grad so I don't short anyone.:spinny: I have a craving for those pickle roll things, I will be sick of them in two weeks though.
I subdued my inner sloth and just got in from 3 hours of hail damage cleanup.
It was not easy to beat Sloth. Sloth strong. Sloth strong like soccer mom!

#UIPD We got an invite in the mail for someone we don't know. My wife and I both looked at the kid's name and the parents' name, looked up the address on google maps, etc....nothing.

That one looks like the one near North Liberty (maybe?), but I saw the same message on the other sign on I-80 westbound on my way to work today.
Someone I know named their son Tyrion. At the time I had not watched GOT so I had no idea how to even pronounce it. I also had a friend have a young relative name their daughter Sansa. Another friend already had an Aria so wasn't thrilled with the rise in popularity. That is at least a name I can see outside of a fantasy tv show.
I have a fairly "common" name but my parents were 30 years ahead of the 'y' trend. I used to not like the spelling of my name because you could not find it on a key chain or any other "personalized" item. I like it now for its uniqueness. All our girls' names could be found on keychains, although 1 out of the 4 is not as common (but is trending up).
OT on the names. This week is teacher appreciation week at the schools. Volunteers are providing a meal tomorrow, what do you think I volunteered to bring? Dessert of course. Just made 4 dozen cookies and one big sugar cookie bar that will get frosted and cut. Only went through 1.5lbs of butter today.
Birdy posting this while still on p.391 so I'm just guessing, but quit teasing us and show us pics of that sugar cookie bar, that sounds yummy.
If you insist. I won't cut it until tomorrow, otherwise I will be too tempted. And the entire 1.5 lbs of butter is in this pan.
This reminds me of the sign here in Ottumwa around Thanksgiving at HyVee that said basically "No, you can't buy the butter by the crate" when it was on sale.
I do stock up on when it is on sale. Usually Fareway has a 2 lb limit. I think I have about 7 lbs in the freezer right now, which may get me through the birthday baking I need to do in 2 weeks.
